The ladies of the Presbyterian
Church here held a miscellaneous
shower in honor of the coming
marriage of Miss Irina, Forster at
the home of Mrs. John Gaunt on
Saturday evening-, when about 50
ladies attended and enjoyed the so-
cial time together,
Mission Band met on Sunday in
the United Church with Mrs.
Moore in charge of the seniors and
Mrs. E, W. Beecroft with the jun-
iors. The Y.P,U. met last Tues-
day evening in the Sunday School
room and Barry Tiffin and Wayne
Farrier were in charge of the wor-
ship service. Mrs. Russell Pardon
had charge of the topic, With a dis-
cussion following.
Mr. and. Mrs. Ezra Scholtz attend-
ed a gathering at the honte of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Wraithby, Auburn,
on Saturday evening, when rela-
tives gathered for a family supper
in honor of the 25th anniversary
of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs,
Reg. Scholt2,
Mrs. Carl Mcdlenaghan visited
on Wednesday' with Mrs. Arthur
Rock of Ethel.
Dr. and Mrs. Hiltz and family of
Milton visited on Sunday with Mrs.

Miss Jean Naylor, who is at Kin-
cardine General Hospital, spent the
week-end with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Naylor.
Mrs, William Davidson of Port
Colborne is visiting this week at
the home of her sister, Mrs. Alex
Leaver, and with other relatives in
this district.
Mrs. Fred Johann of Belmore has
been visiting for two weeks at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Wil-
fred Walker, and on Sunday vis-
ited with Mrs. Mina MeRitchie,
Mrs. Tebutt, of Goderich, who has
been staying wilit her sister-in-law,
Mrs. Ezekial Phillips, of Auburn,
is visiting this week with her niece,
Mrs. George Walker,
Elaine Conn, Claire Chamney and
Karen Groskorth, of Stratford Tea-
chers' College, were home for the
week-end. The girls anticipate
starting to teach in rural schools
next week.
Miss Muriel Reid of Marnoch
spent the week-end with her sis-
ter, Miss Marilyn Reid, at Mount
Brydges.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Barker,
Brenda and Bobby, of Goderich,
visited on Sunday at the home of
her aunt, Mrs. John McButney.
Mr, and Mrs. Albert Bieman and
family visited on Sunday with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Inglis
of Walkerton, who, on Tuesday,
'Sept. 27, quietly celebrated their
44th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes,
Misses Marjory and Dianne, and
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Coultes of Wing-
ham attended the wedding of Miss
Daisy Yvonne Majury, only daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Majury
of Paisley, and William Robert
Tottingham, son of Mr. and Mrs.
William Tottingham of Owen
Sound, solemnized in Paisley Angli-
can Church on Saturday. The wed-
ding dinner was served to 70 guests
in the church parlours. A reception
was held in Pinkerton Hall last
Saturday evening in honour of the
newlyweds.
Mr. and Mrs. James Robertson,
Jimmy and Scott, Mrs. Ethel Car-
michael of Goderich were Sunday
visitors at the home of Mr. John
Hunter and Mrs. Alonzo Snarling.
Mrs. Robertson and Scott remain-
ed for a longer visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Musgrove,
Robert and Faye spent the week-
end at Niagara Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hampton,
Fergus, spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Harold ToWnsend,
Mrs. Harry Gowdy, Gorrie, and
Mrs. James Doig spent a few days
in Toronto last week and visited

Mr. and Mrs, Allister Green,
Linda and Janis, Goderich, were
Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
George Gibson.
Mr. and Mrs, Art Wheeler ,and
family spent the week-end with
their daughter, Mrs, Robert Mason,
Mr. Mason and family in Sarnia,
Mrs, Lloyd Elliott was a visitor
with her sister, Mrs. Jack Gasho
in Harriston one day last week.
Mrs, Harry Gowdy and Mrs.
James Doig spent Saturday with
Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Doig at St,
Jacob's.
Ross Tomans were Sunday guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Toman,
Kitchwer, and called on Mr. Wal-
lace Thman in K. Sc W. Hospital.
A two-day conference of library
officials representing 13 counties
was held in Goderich on Wednes-
day and Thursday. One of the
major issues under discussion was
the free county library system
versus the co-operative system now
used across Ontario, William A.
Roedde, director of public libraries
for Ontario, led the discussion.
On Thursday evening the County
of Huron was host at a banquet
held in St. George's Anglican Par-
ish Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
'Gibson attended this banquet. In-
spector James Kinkead was the
guest speaker and he was thanked
by Mr. Gibson.
Mr. and Mrs. George Gibson
have returned to their home in
Timmins after spending the past
few weeks at the home of the
Misses Gibson here.
Mrs. Jessie Koch visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Boyne Sage and
family of 3rd Line Wallace, Tues-
day evening,
Mr. Jack Griffith returned home
this week-end from a week's va-
cation with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace
Nixon, Greenwood, N.S.
Mrs. William Hart and Miss
Hazel Sparling were in Atwood
last Monday evening, owing to the
sudden passing of a cousin, Mr.
George Hart.
Mrs. J. Musgrove spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Bennett
Mitchell, Molesworth,
Mrs. R. Newton, local postmis-
tress, is attending convention this
week at Satilt Ste. Marie.
Mrs. A. Sparling and Miss Hazel
Sparling were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Cecil Gibbs, Gowanstown, last
Tuesday evening.

lis - at the Wingham Hospital. Mrs.

G. A. Whitney .funeral home in

passed away on Monday after a

Dies at Clinton
Robert R. Chadwick, 26, of Lon-
don, died in the Clinton Hospital
on Sunday, following an accident
on Saturday, when his car left the
road half a mile north of Blyth and
crashed into a tree. No other 'car
was involved, according to police

Scripture lesson and in the medi-
tation period spoke of the man
and his need, She led in the
prayer for the success of the work
of the missionaries,

Mrs. William Moore had charge
of the chapter in the study book,
"Atrial Disturbed", Mrs. Moore
said that gradually the diseases of
this country, heart, nerves, etc.,
are spreading in Africa. The people
of Africa like, to sing, and keep
their folk songs.
