The Rev. Leslie Elder of Seaforth
will be guest speaker for the Pres-
byterian Church Anniversary ser-
vices on Sunday next, Sept, 25th
at le a,m, and at 7.30 p.m. There
wilt be special music by the choir
and a guest soloist, Gordon Leggatt,
Wingham,
Miss Nancy Jacques, Lakelet,
and Miss Gwen Hyndman, Gorrie
4-H Club girls, who were chosen to
represent Huron County at the
Western Fair, London, on Junior
Farmers' Day, judged 4-H club
work in the forenoon. They attend-
ed a banquet and the evening grand-
stand show with compliments of
the Fair Board. Mrs. Lloyd Jacques
accompanied them.
Mrs. Frances Strong, and Mr.
Roy Strong moved on Wednesday
to their home in the village, the
former Fred Taylor home. Mr. and
Mrs. Vernon Barlow of Grey Town-
ship have moved to the house re-
cently purchased from Mr. Ken
Charles.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dustow
visited with relatives in Woodstock
last week,
Misses Sandra Edgar and Mar-
garet Hastie, leave this week to
start nurses' training, at the Guelph
General Hospital.
Mrs. Lulu Sanderson is spending
some time at Burlington, at the
home of her niece, Mrs, Harry
Bruneskill.
Ladies of the South Friendship
Circle of the United Church W,A.
had a good attendance at their
omnifarious tea en Tuesday even-
ing, A variety ,of costumes were
worn by the ladies and things were
somewhat different, Home baking
and aprons found a ready sale,
Mr. Tom .0'Krafita, Mrs. Ruth
MacDonald, Miss Jean Sparling
and Mrs. Gerald Galbraith were
among the teachers attending the
annual teachers' convention in
London on Friday.
Mrs, Clara Conner and Mrs. Sam
Bramiing of Toronto spent Thurs-
day with the former's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest King.
A film "The Leaves of the Tree"
will be shown by the Rev. B. L.
Walden, district secretary of the
Bible Society on Wednesday even-
ing, in St, Stephen's Anglican
Church at 8, A cordial invitation
is extended to everyone.
Mrs. Robert Shields of Atwood
and Mr. and Mrs, David Neilson
and daughters spent a day at the
Western Fair, London.
Mrs. Lily Clegg, Toronto, was a
recent guest of Mrs, Harry Zimmer-
man. Mrs. Lorne Laird of Toronto
visited Mrs. Tessie Zimmerman
and Mrs. Minnie Irwin.
The Gorrie and Wroxeter Athletic
Association sponsored a 'lance in
the Community Hall on Friday
evening.

spenter few days at her home ,here.
Mr, and Mrs. Claus 'O'Krafka
have returned from a motor trip
to Alberta.
Mrs. Dave Neilson, Elizabeth and
Heather are spending this week at
the home of Mr, and Mrs. Glen
Shields, Listowel.

Decorate .Church
.GORRIE-The rector, the. Rev.
E, C. Attwell, was in charge of the
annual Harvest Thanksgiving ser-
vice at St. Stephen's Anglican
Church. on Sunday morning. Aue
tunen flowers, and the fruits of the
harvest, grain, corn and vegetables
were used in the church.
The .choir sang as an anthem,
"To Thee, 0 cod, Our Hearts We
Raise", There was a good atten..

Feted by Friends
GORRIE—Mrs, Harry Zimmer-
man was hostess at a miscellaneous
shower in honour of Miss Betty
Zimmerman on Wednesday even-
ing, Contests were enjoyed and a,
bride's book made,
The room was •attractively decor-
ater with pink bells and streamers
and the bride-to-be was seated on
a hassock under a gaily decorated
umbrella in pink and white,
The gifts were presented in a
basket by Susan Templeman, Jane
Shiell and Brenda VanCamp. A
delicious lunch was served by the
hostess.
Attend Funeral
GORRIE—Mr. and Mrs, Wesley
Trimble attended the funeral of
the former's brother, Mr. and Wil-
liam Trimble on Monday at McIn-
tosh Church.
Mr. Trimble died suddenly at the
home of his son, Alvin Trimble,
Normanby Township in his 76th
year. He was a former Howich
resident in the Belmore district.
Besides his brother, Wesley, in
Gorrie, two sons and a daughter
survive.

Mr, and Mrs. Louis Howe, Greg
and Graham' of Kitchener, visited
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Edgar on
Sunday.

recently with Mrs, Thomas Sang-
ster in Walkerton Hospital and Mr,
Thomas Sangster in Clifford.
Mr. and Mrs. George Brown and
Jean visited at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Lewis on Sunday,
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Robinson,
Mr. and Mrs, Lorne 'Robinson and
family spent Sunday at Niagara
Falls.
Mr, William Ferguson, Alberta
and Mr. and Mrs. George Galbraith,
Wroxeter, were supper guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wade on
Sunday. Mr. Ferguson is spending
this week renewing old friendships
in Howick township.
Mrs. Glenna Edwards of Port
Credit has returned, after spending
several weeks at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. E. H. Strong.
Mr, Jack King spent the week-
end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs
Frank King. He hae spent the I
summer vacation at White River,
Northern Ontario and will enter
Toronto University this week for
his second year.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest King jr„ and
grandson Eddie of Windsor spent
from Friday to Sunday with rela-
tives here.
Mr. Howard Cowan returned last
week from the Palmerston Hos-
pital, Condition of Mr. Carl Dine-
More in the same hospital is
improving and it is expected he
will soon leave the hospital.
Wingham Fire Dept, was called
on Friday, afternoon to the farm
of Willard Peel when a small fire
got out of control. It spread
rapidly over about 10 acres of
stubble and burnt some 75 bales of
straw,
Mr. and Mrs. Burns Stewart,
Miss Etta Burns, Mrs. Mary Taylor,
Mrs, Mabel Stewart visited Mr, and
Mrs, Jas, Fullarton of Walkerton,
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Hyndman,
Karen and Clarke, spent Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. T, C. Thompson,
of Harriston.
Mr, and Mrs.- Justin Will spent
the week-end at the homes of
Messrs, Glen and Allan Will, of
Kingsville.
Mr, and Mrs. Harry Gowdy and
Mrs. Roy Gowdy, were supper
guests of Mrs. Betty Feagan, Wing-
ham on Sunday.

Keswick Conference, held at Port

Bruce Grainger commenced stu-
dies at the University of Western
Ontario, London, this week.
Practical formula for using color

scheme in either one color or
Shades of one color. This means
that two out of three large areas in
the room should be color matched.
For small rooms, walls and drap-
eries should be related and for
rooms of average size walls and
rugs should match.

AT ST, STEPHEN'S
CORRIE—Mre. James Strong of
Fordwieh was guest speaker at the
opening fall meeting of the W.A.
of St. Stephen's Church at the
home of Mrs, Lulu Sanderson on
Thursday afternoon, She told ,of
the workshop held at Huron Col-
lege, May 27th - 29th for Anglican
women. Huron is the first diocese
to sponsor a workshop. Rev, Don
Bodley of the Diocese of Michigan
was leader and Rev, Morris Robert-
son of Toronto was a speaker,
Small groups met with appointed
leaders. Highlights of the meeting
were discussions of the Christian
vocation,
Roll call was answered with a
verse from St. Peter's epistles.
Mrs. Earl Underwood gave a, read-
ing on the apostle Peter,
The new study book was intro-
ducted by Rev. E, C, Attwell, The
theme for this year is "Into all the
world together" and the book
written by a layman is entitled
"Toward the Centre", We must
pray for Christian unity, under-
standing of other bodies and that
all believers may be united,
Letters of thanks were read from
the Mohawk Institute, Brantford,
for bedding and girls' uniforms,
also a letter from the Bible Society
thanking the members for the used
stamps sent. Mrs, John Dinsmore
read the Scripture lesson. The
meeting was closed with prayer by
the rector and the hostess served
refreshments.
