ebrating his sixty-ninth birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Ross of
Owen Sound spent the week-end
with his mother, Mrs, Robert Ross
and other relatives here.
Mr. and Mrs. James Mcllraith
arrived home last Thursday after
.njoying a motor trip through the
Eastern provinces for the past sev-
en weeks, and returning home
through the New England States
to Buffalo. They visited with Dr.

daughters were in London on Sun-
day. His mother, Mrs. Orville Tif-
fin, accompanied. them and is a pa-
tient this week in Victoria Hospi-
tal, where she will have an opera-
tion on her eyes.

ed on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Reg. Scholtz of Auburn.
Mr. Gary Morton of Kincardine
was in charge of the service in
the Presbyterian Church here on
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bagg and
Tony, who were holidaying last
week at Lions Head, visited on
Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. E. H.
Groskorth on their way home to
Brooklin,
Mr. and Mrs. William Ashby of
Toronto visited last week at the
home of her sister, Mrs. Charles
Robinson,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gibson of
Brantford spent the week-end with
her mother, Mrs. R. J. Currie.
Miss Doreen Wilson, who last
week wrote her nurses exams in
Toronto, spent the week-end with
Mr, and Mrs. Alex Leaver. Miss
Wilson is now on the staff of the
Women's College Hospital,
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cameron and
family of Ashfield visited oh Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Mason Rob-
inson.
Mr. and Mrs. William Kelly of
Seaforth visited on _Tuesday last at
the home of her aunt, Mrs, Harry
Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cook
and Mr, Frank Cooper last week
attended the Carter - Cook wedding
held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Telford Cook of the 6th of East
Wawanosh, with Rev. Funge of
Londesboro United Church officiat-
ing. Mr. and Mrs. Cook visited on
Thursday. with Mr. and Mrs. Har-

The Very Rev. Dr. Alexander
Nimmo performed a ceremony
uniting John Davis Wright and
Shirley Florence Merkley in mar,
riage at the Presbyterian manse on
Friday afternoon at 4.30. The bride
is a daughter of Mrs. George
IVIerkley of Wingham and the late
Mr, Merkley and the groom's par-
ents are Mr. and Mrs. Gordon K.
Wright of Clifford.
The bride was attended by her
sister, Miss Janice Merkley of
Wingham •and Grahani Wright of
Clifford was the best man.
The wedding gown was full-
length white imported French lace
with a scalloped sabrena neckline
embroidered with seed pearls, and
lily-point sleeves, 'It featured a
bustle back, which fell into a slight
train, Her elbow-length veil was
made of French illusion and held
by a pearl and' sequin halo. She
carried a bouquet of' Bettor Ti Me
roses and 'trailing ivy. • :

erton, Brussels, Clifford, Belmore,
Walkerton, Neustadt, Waterloo,
Kitchener, Carlsruhe, Ingersoll,
Denfield, Clinton, Walton and
Luekhow attended the reception
held in the Belmore Community
Hall.
Mrs; Merkley received the guests,
wearing purple wool lace over a
purple satin sheath, blae,( Patent
shoes and purse and purple hat
and gloves. The groom's mother
chose • a ..moss green handscreen
painted ensemble with beige ac-
cessories. Each wore a corsage of
mums. . •
na travelling, the bride wore a
royal blue tweed suit, with black
and royal blue acqessories and a
corsage of Talisman roses, They
intended to travel through North-
ern Ontario and return home by
the U.S.A. Mr. and Mrs. Wright
will live in Clifford.
