at the Ontario Agricultural College by members of
the Ontario Shorthorn Lassie Association as con-
testants for the title of the first Shorthorn. Queen
of Ontario, The selection of the Queen and her
coronation will take place at the forthcoming Royal
Winter Pair. The "Bonnie Lassies" are selected
front over 50 representatives from all parts of On-
tario on the basis Of personality, appearance, and
ability to judge and show shorthorn cattle, The
selections were made by a panel composed of the
wives of prominent Ontario Shorthorn Breeders.
:Die Shorthorn Lassie Association was organized last
year by the wives and daughters of the Shorthorn
Fraternity, with Mrs, John Richard of Bowmanville
as president, to promote greater interest in the
breed, and to assist in various public relations pro-
jeets..•The lucky lassies who were selected to com-
pete for the honour of Queen of the Shorthorn
world are seen admiring a representative of their
favorite breed. Left to right—Catherine Stewart, of
Ansa, Craig, Heather McTavish of Uxbridge, Betty
Lou Sutherland of Chatsworth, Donna Medley of
Canfield, Phyllis Wits-on of Fordwich, Helen Strong
of Bethany and Margaret Pinkney of Alton. At
the halter is Mrs. Beardmore, prominent Short-
horn breeder of Mono Mills, Ontario.

Dr. William "Tiger" Dunlop on Thursday,
September-15, at 3.30 p.m. at Dunlop's

A number of local - men bowlers
attended the Merchants' and Manu-
facturers' tournament held in
Lucknow on Monday, with around
forty rinks taking part. Jack
Porter's rink from Teeswater
first prize and Art Wilson and
Jack Bowman came sixth,

TEESWATER IN 4
The third game of the series was
played on Wednesday night of last
week in Teeswater. This turned
out to be a high-scoring contest
with, Belgrave coming out vic-
torious with a 19-13 score,
Bob Higgins led the Belgrave
boys with a home run, triple and a
double, driving in eight runs. Bill
Coultes had three singles and Ken
Coultes a homer. Gordon Cerson
and A. McKague hit homers for
Teeswater.

the Belgrave battery. E. Lamont,

Final Game
The fourth and final game of the
series was played in Wingham on
Friday evening, when the score
read Belgrave 9, Teeswater 5. Bill
Coultes, Bob Higgins and Ken
Coultes got two hits each for Bel-
grave, with Ron Hill getting two
hits for the losers.

The Belgrave team will now meet

On Monday afternoon the ladies
of the local bowling club held a
trebles tournament with eleven
rinks taking part. Rinks from out
of town were from Goderich, Han-
over, Atwood and Mitchell. A pot
luck supper was served at six
o'clock.
Winners were:. first, Mrs, Red-
mond's rink, of Hanover; second,
Mrs. Argyle, of Goderich; third,
Mrs, Cowan, of Atwood, and fourth,
Mrs. Lloyd Elliott, Mrs, R. H.
Lloyd and Mrs. H, DuVal, skip, of
Wingham.
Last week three rinks from
Wingham attended a trebles tour-
nament in Paisley, Mrs. Lloyd El-
liott, Mrs. J. Finnigan and Mts. H.
Campbell, skip, brought home first
prize, and Mrs. A. Mitchell, Mrs.
G. MacKay with Mrs. R. DuVal,
skip, 'von second.
