day, September 3rd,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fries and
family, of Streetsville, visited over
the holiday week-end at the home
of Mrs. Allan Fries.
Serve Steak Dinner
At Golf 'Course
A social evening was held at the
Wingham Golf Club last Wednes-
day when a number of members
and their families attended, total-
ling between sixty and seventy. A
barbecued steak dinner was served,
each member bringing his own
steaks. After dinner they had put-
ting contests.
The music for dancing was sup-
plied 'by Slim Boucher and the
members of the Golden Prairie
Cowboys, Hap Swatridge, Andy
Winters, Al Cherny and Earl Hey-
wood. This evening of entertain-
ment was provided by a grant of
the 'preferred trust fund of the re-
cording industries of America AF&
M Local 418, Stratford.

The work will consist of excavat-
ing, crushing and grading of gravel
f rom a pit near Port Elgin provided'
by AECL, and, delivering, three sizes,
of aggregate produced to the Doug-
las Point Generating Station site
approximately 17 miles from the pit.
The estimated quantity of aggre-
ate is 92,000 tons, of which 20,-
000 tons is required by November
30, 1960, and the remainder by
November 30, 1961. The site of the
Douglas Point Generating Station
s located on the east shore of
L ake -Huron about midway between
Port Elgin and Kincardine.

John Gordon McGee
Buried on Saturday
A life-long resident of East
Wawanosh Township, John Gordon
McGee, died at the Wingham Hos-
pital on August 31st after a lengthy
illness. He was 60 years of age.
A son of the late Henry and
Maria McGee, he was born and
educated in East Wawanosh and
farmed there until four years ago.
.He was not married. Mr. McGee
was a member of Knox Presbyter-
ian Church, Belgrave, and of the
Independent Order of Oddfellows.
Surviving is one brother, Roy
McGee, of Kitchener.
Funeral service was held at the
R. A, Currie & Sons funeral home
at two o'clock Saturday afternoon
with interment in the Wingham
Cemetery. Rev. Green, of Brussels
Presbyterian Church officiated and
the pallbearers were George and
Jack McGee, Melville Beecroft,
Charles Leaver, J. D. Beecroft and
Graeme Anderson.
Mrs, A. MacDonald
Passes Suddenly
Mrs. Henrietta MacDonald,
widow of the late Alex NfaeDon-
ald, died suddenly at her home on
Leopold Street, early Sunday
morning. In apparent good health
the previous evening, Mrs. Mac-
Donald is believed to have suffered
a brain hemorrhage. She would
have celebrated her 62nd birthday
on September 12th.
Daughter of the late William
Poston and his wife, Mary Jane
Walker, she was married to the
late Alex MacDonald and they
farmed in Culross Township until
his death in 1951, when Mrs. Mac-
Donald purchased a home in Wing-
ham.
She was a member of the Wing-
ham United Church and the Wo-
man's Missionary Society.
She is survived by a son, Red-
mond, on the home farm and a
daughters Mrs. Leslie (June) Will,
who resides in Germany, where her
husband has served for the past
three years with the RCAF. She ar-
rived in Wingham on Tuesday
evening. There are also three
grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs.
James Mair, Winnipeg; Mrs. Leroy
Bender, Clifford; and four broth-
ers, Albert, Harold, Herbert and
Milford Foxton, all of Wingham,
The body is resting at the S. J.
Walker funeral home, Patrick St.,
where service will be held Thurs-
day at 2 p.m. with interment in
the Wingham Cemetery. Rev. T.
G. Husser will be in charge.
Michael A. King
Born in Cuirass
Michael A. King, a resident of
Wingham since his retirement,
passed away at the Wingham Gen-
eral Hospital on Sunday after a
long illness, He was 84 years of
age.
Born at lot 31, con. 1, Culross,
Mr. King was the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick King. He re-
ceived his education at S. S. No. 3,
Culross, and on September 10;1919,
was married to the 'former Em-
melia Steffler, of Formosa, who
survives. They farmed in Culross
for many years. He was a member
of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic
Church, Teeswater, and of the Holy
Name Society,
Surviving besides his widow are
five daughters and two sons, Mrs.
John ('Rita) James, Fort St. John,
B.C.; Mrs. Waiter (Loretta) Nichol-
son, Gravenhurst; Mrs. Ernest
(Margaret) Porter, Toronto; Clara,
London; Mrs. Harvey (Theresa)
Pritchard, Guelph; Patrick and
Norman, at home,. Three children,
Joseph, Raymond and ' Beatrice,
predeceased him. There are also
three brothers, Patrick, Holyrood;
Daniel, Teeswater, and Hugh, Nor-
man, Ont. There are 13 grandchild-
ren.
Funeral service,, was held on
Wednesday at, i,:p*m. in Sacred
Heart Church, Teeswater, Rev, J.
H. Higgins oftiCistping, and inter-
ment was in the Teeswater R. C.
Cemetery. The pallbearers were
Joseph,. David and Owen King,
Wilfred Walters, Donald McCor-
mick and Arthur Ernewein,

death of William Lawson Smith, of
Seattle, Wash., a builder and con-,
tractor. He was a son. of the late
John H. Smith and Mrs. Smith, of

He is survived by his wife and.
