Last of Union Services Held BLUEVALE—The final union service for the two congregations, United Church and Knox Presby- terian, was held in the United Church on Sunday morning, Rev. T. E. Kennedy was the minister, The services for the two months have been well attended. Next Sunday, Sept. 4th, services Will be held in each church. Rev, T. E. Kennedy and Rev, W. R. Welsh will be in charge in their respective churches. Hold Presentation For Exeter Couple On Friday night a presentation and dance was held in the school house at S. S. No. 4 Grey, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton McDon- ald, who were married recently in Exeter. The music was supplied by Alcock's orchestra. The young couple was presented with a gift of money by Mrs. Gee. McKay, and an address was read by Miss Wilma Johnston, express- ing best wishes for a long and happy wedded life and welcoming the bride to their midst. Clifton made a suitable reply, thanking all for their kindness, and all joined in singing "They Are Jolly Good Fellows". and A. D, Smith entertained the members of the Bluevale softball team to a wiener roast at Kin- cardine Beach last Wednesday. Frank ,Kennedy, of Toronto, visit- ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hamilton last week. Mrs. T. E. Kennedy spent a few days in Toronto and Oshawa re- cently. Mrs. Elton Mahood and children, of Goderich, visited Mr. and Mrs. Thos. 'Parker last week. Miss Eleanor Smith and Mrs. M. L. Aitken, of Bluevale, and Mrs. Donald Street and children, of Listowel, attended a reunion of relatives and friends, chiefly from Beetoh and Tefonto,• at ' Sunny Bank Acres, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Aitken (Kate Aitken), at Streetsville, on Sunday. Mrs. James Kennedy, Gail and Louise, Toronto, and Mrs. W. J. Hunter, of Oshawa, are visiting at the manse with. Rev and Mrs. T. E, Kennedy. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. McTavish and Donald spent a Week's holiday with Mr. and Mrs. R. H, McKinnon. Mrs, Chas. Hawkins and son, of Guelph, and the Misses Murray, of Teeswater, visited at the home of Miss Mary Duff last week. BELEM Mr. and Mrs. G. K. Manore and Mr. Charles Manore, of Port Ar- thur, visited last week with Miss Frances McCrea and other McCrea relatiVes in the village. Mr. and Mrs, Herb Wheeler have returned home after spending the past two weeks with -their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Wheeler, and family at London. Mrs. Laura. Johnston and George spent the week-end with Mrs. George Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Borho at Wingham, Mrs. Ralph McCrea, Maureen and Douglas and Mrs. Thomas Smith visited on Thursday With Mrs„Tohn Manning and family at Blyth. Garbutt Dies in Calgary WHITECITURCP1 — Miss Jose- phine Garbutt, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs, William F. Garbutt 'of the 2nd Concession of Kinloss Township, passed away suddenly at her home in Calgary, Alta., on July 23. She was in her 88th year, and 'had lived in Winnipeg and Calgary for over sixty years. Of a family of seven daughters and one son, only one daughter survives, Mrs. W. G. Mackay of Palmerston, for- merly Clara Garbutt, Interment was in Calgary Ceme- tery. In Bible Course WHITECEURCH — The Bible study classes that were held for the past two weeks at the home of Mrs. James Richardson, came to a successful conclusion on Friday last, when-41 children and 12 adults gathered for the'"final social after- noon and received their prizes. Alma Conn, who: brought eight other children to the class, received first prize. Some had missed one day, some had learned more mem- ory verses, All enjoyed the classes in basket making, art work, In felt and oilcloth, and were interested` in the fine exhibit of work done.
