attended the 4-H Homemaking
Club Achievement Day held in the
high school auditorium in Walker-
ton last Friday when over 130
girls were present with their lead-
ers,.
In the morning session the judg-
ing competitions for tea biscuits
and menus were held and in the
afternoon sessoon the county hon-
ors were presented by Mrs. Fran-
cis of S. Line, Brant Township.
Each girl having concluded six
projects received a pin and a certi-
ficate. Seven girls were in Mrs.
Francis' group, also two from Car-
gill, and one each from Holyrood,
Armow, and Teeswater.
Ferris, of Toronto, are spending
two weeks at the Richardson home,
Mr. and Mrs. John Hunter of
Freelton, spent the week-end there.
Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson
and sons, Charles and Earl, of
Feversham, are spending a few
days with her parents, Rev, and
Mrs. W. J, Watt.
Mrs. Robt. Ferguson, of Winni-
peg, and Mrs. Wm. Simpson, of
Lucknow, visited on Saturday with
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Simpson and
Mr, Arthur Simpson, of Toronto,
spent the week-end with his bro-
ther, Hugh.
Grant Currie and Michael and
Brian Forsythe spent the week-end
at Camp Marlyn at Inverhuron
with the Wingham Cub camp, and
returned home on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. • Kenneth Currie and
daughters, and Miss Doreen Smyth.
Mrs. Edward McClenaghan has
been a patient in Wingham Hos-
pital during the week-end, A car
driven by a Dungannon youth ran
into her car in Lueknow on Sat-
urday night, and broke her knee
cap. There was also considerable
damage done to the ear.
Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Zinn and
family, of Bright, spent a 'few days
last week at the home of his bro-
ther, Mr. Kenneth Zinn.
Miss Janet Gaunt, of Hanover,
spent the week-end with her par-
ents, Mr, and Mrs. Russell Gaunt.
Miss Sandra Chamney visited
last week with her friend, Miss
Evelyn Stephens, of Gorrie, and
Evelyn is visiting this week with
Sandra. On Sunday Mr, and Mrs.
Clarence Chamney, Claire, Sandra
and Evelyn Stephens attended a
picnic at Seaforth Park where sev-
eral families of former Stratford
Normal School friends gather each
year.
Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Thompson, of
Goderich, and Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Robinson on Sunday accompanied
their cousin, Mr, Frank Beadle,
who has been visiting here with his
father, Mr. John Beadle, on a me-
tor trip to Niagara Falls and
Burlington. From there he left for
his home on Vancouver Island, B.C.
Mr. and Mrs, A. E, Purdon, of
Lucknow, are visiting this week at
the home of their sons, Mr. Athol
and Mr, Hector Purdon, of Sarnia,
Mr. and Mrs. John McBtrney of
Marnoch visited on Sunday with
Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Nicholson of
Seaforth.
Robert Burchill, Kenneth Coul-
Los and William Reavie were in
London on Sunday and visited
with the latter's father, Mr. Ruth-
erford Reavie, in Westminster Hos-
pital.
Miss Janette Wright visited last
week with Mr. and Mrs. Sidney
Thompson and returned home to
Clifford on Sunday with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wright,
who visited at the Thompson
home.
Grant McBurney is holidaying
this week with David Hanna at
the Hanna cottage near Bayfield.
Mr. Austin Cook, who works with
the H. H. Sutton Landscaping Co,,
spent the week-end with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cook.
He goes to Prescott with his firm
this week,
Mr. Fred Deacon was able to
return to his work with Mr. Gra-
ham Moffatt at Ripley on Monday.
The W.M,S. of Calvin-Brick Un-
ited Church will meet this Wed-
nesday evening at the home ,of
Mrs. Gordon McBurney for the
regular meeting and the birthday
tea. This congregation will hold
its annual S.S. picnic at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Coultes,
on Friday afternoon.
