HOWICK LIONS LADIES' NIGHT WROXFlTER—Howlek Lions and their ladies met in the schoolroom of Fordwich United Church on Monday evening of last week, when about 35 were entertained at supper, served by the ladies' group of the Fordwich church. Vice-president Gordon Moir pre- sided. International Councillor Lion Rae Watson of Lucknow, was present for the installation of the incoming officers and was assisted by Past Deputy District Governor Lion Harvey Webster, and Lion President Pete Bissonette, also of Lucknow. Lion Rae also presented the highlights of the recent con- vention held in Ottawa, which a number of the local Lions had attended. The list of incoming officers is as follows: Past president, Don McLaughlin; president, Lion Gor- don Moir; 1st vice, Lion Warren Zurbrigg; 2nd vice, Lion Sack Clarke; 3rd vice, Lion Russell Martin; secretary, Lion Harvey McDermitt; treasurer, Lion Harold Townsend; liontamer, Lion Bill Felker; tailtwister, Lion Ken. WROXETER—On Saturday ev- ening an enjoyable time was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wright. About 50 guests gathered to honour them on the occasion of their silver wedding anniversary. Their home was tastefully decor- ; ated with orchids and peonies and the table was centred with a three- tiered wedding •cake. The evening was spent with games and pleas- ant reminiscing. Many useful and beautiful gifts were received and a delicious luncheon was enjoyed. : Guests were present from Port Credit, Preston, Kitchener, Graven- hurst, Brussels, Gorrie and the surrounding community. Marriage Vows At Sacred Heart Marriage vows were exchanged in Sacred Heart Church by Doreen Olive Mc'KaY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roderick McKay, of Wing- ham, and Henry George Shinn, son of Mr, and Mrs. George Skinn, of Wingham. Rev. G. J. Freker of- ficiated. The bride, given in marriage 'by her father, wore a floor-length vown of white lace and net over bridal taffeta, styled with a fitted bodice and featuring Sabrina neck- line and lily-point sleeves. A bridal headdress of sequins and pearls held the flowing veil, She carried a bouquet of red roses and white mums. Miss Delina McKay, attended her sister, wearing a street-length gown of blue net over taffeta, She carried a bouquet of pink car- nations, Miss Debbie McKay was flower girl, dressed in White nylon over pink taffeta. George Skint', brother of the groom, was groomsman and the ushers were Donald McKay and Eugene Skinn. Miss Sarah Skinn, Sister of the groom, was soloist, acdompanied by Miss Nancy Slosser, Mr. and Mrs. McKay received the many guests at their bottle, where dinner was Served, The couple left for a motor trip to Manitoulin Island, Miss Margaret McCann attended the Inglis-McArthur wedding Sat- urday, in Creemore. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Armstrong were, Mr. and Mrs, Allan Mitchell, Debbie and Brenda and Mr. and Mrs. Art Mitchell of Crediton. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Simmons and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Simmons and family, visited Sunday with Miss Luella Simmons in the Ontario Hospital in London. Mrs, James Pollack of Ripley is spending some time here with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pollock, Miss Marie Browne left Sunday for Jack's Ranch, where she will be employed for the summer months, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stewart attend- ed the funeral of the former's grandmother, the late Mr. Ed. Coates on Saturday in Listowel, Mr. Gerald Martin, who is em- ployed by his btother, Glenn, had the misfortune to let a piece of, steel fall on his foot last week which resulted in a bone being broken. X-Te was taken to Listowel Hospital, 4 Oast was placed on his foot and be will be off work for about four weeks. Mr, and Mrs, George Pitten- drelgh, Mr. Ian Pittendreigh, Miss Minnie McElwain ' Messrs, John and. Bill McElwain were guests Saturday at the Inglis-McArthur wedding in Creamere United Chinch, Etev. A. P. Gardner of the 'Ford- wich United Church has accepted A program of vocal music and instrumentals was provided by the Mercey Brothers, Larry and Ray of Hanover, and was greatly enjoyed. Mr. Clarence Taylor met with a very painful accident when gored by an animal in his stable, recent- ly. It took 72 stitches to close the wound from knee to upper thigh. We are sorry to hear Mrs. Margaret McKercher is a patient in Wingham Hospital, and hope she is able to return home soon, Miss Hazel Sparling, accompan- ied, the Mary Hastings Housewives Sunset Circle group of 'Goderich to Kitchener on Wednesday last, when they toured' Burns & Co„ Meat Packing Plant, Weston's Bakery and attended the `Television show "Bazaar" at CKCO. it was a very interesting and enjoyable day. Mr, and Mrs. William Lowe and family, Gravenhurst, were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Les Douglas. FRIENDS CELEBRATE SILVER WEDDING a, call to the United Church in Milverton. No supply has been obtained for the Fordwich Church as yet, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Connell and Margery,, Mrs, Waiter Hainstock visited on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Trey Hainstock in Milton. Miss Margery remained for two weeks.
