THE BIG TRIP
Tomorrow is a. day I have been
luOltinS -forward to for a long time.
I have never been to Mexico, but
it has always been dream of
mine to get there, Tomorrow my
wife and I will start out. We will
drive to El Paso, on the border, as
headquarters and then make some
excursions into romantic Mexico
for the first time.
It will be a quick. trip, but we
hope to get four full days in
Mexico, before starting for home.'
All the way down and back I want
to make notes for future columns.
It has been a long winter and I
find myself going stale.
Today I went to the bank to get-
some American money. It was
pleasant to find that on $100 I
was given $4.00 hard Canadian
cash back. I won't tell you bow
much, money I am taking with me
--it is too much, T.. know, and when
I get home wish I'd been more
prudent. My wife, like all other
women, seems to think that it is
disgraceful to bring Ameriean
money back over the border with
you --there is always a race to get
it all spent before homecoming! I
must confess to a -tendency in that
direction myself,
There's one thing sure -about this
trip; even if it turned out to he
flop it would be a success. By that
I mean we've already had seaters of
fun planning it. The young lady
at. the Manitoba Motor League dug
in and' helped us anti seemed to
show as much interest as if she
were going to be with us.
Some old wag onee said that an-
ticipation is better than realize,
Lion. I hope he was wrong. Never-
theless, the anticipation has helped
us go through the winter in higher
spirits, knowing the trip was cam,
ing up.
So watch for some travel talk in
future columns. Maybe when I
come back from Mexico I'll be
even better at throwing the hull!

are arrangements by which
the processor who has a smaller
pereent4g-e of milk going to the
bottle trade is assisted in paying
this average price.
While this does seem to be work-
ing satisfactorily it is difficult and
expensive to operate. In the Chi-
cago area 21) auditors are required
along with 20 stenographers to
cheek the books of all distributors
to see that the amounts of intik
going into the different channels
are correct and thereby be sure
that the price paid to producers
bears a proper relationship to the
government support price.
The meeting concluded that a
system of pooling milk is possible
but in order to get a satisfactory
price some means of surplus dis-
posal must he developed. In the
U.S. the government undertakes
to do this. Recent government ac-
tion in Canada leaves little hope
that our government will do the
same.

Most of us in the free world be-

At least, .these are the ideals by
which nearly all of us like to feel
that we are guided in our every-

injustice, the indignity and the
total lack of freedom experienced
by the refugees for countless years.
Now, in this World Refugee Year,
we can make amends. We can help

The recent announcement that
butter will continue to be support,
ed at 64c is misleading since this
applies only to butter that scares
10 mints on grade. I have been
told that only about 10 per cent of
our tenderable butter scores this
high. Butter scoring 39, which is
first grade butter, is being offered
at 62c and will be the main basis
of the price to the producer.
The offer to purchase whole milk
powder is also of doubtful value
since this product can only he stor-
ed in sealed cans and only one or
two processors are in a position to
do this. Also these processors
