Unless you failed to earn any-
thing this year, you have puzzled
over income tax forms recently.
The harder you worked the more
you'll pay. feel sorry for you, so
here are some words of cheer.
First-you must know that this
income tax thing is only tempor,
ary. When income tax was first
introduced, the politicians promised
it would only be a temporary thing.
Doesn't that make you feel better?
Second-the tax you send in
after filling out your income tax
form is only the beginning. There
are thousands of other taxes. You
pay them almost every .time you
spend a dime. Some price tags
have tucked into them as many as
100 taxes on a single jfem! You
don't know they're there, so it
doesn't pain you quite so much.
Just imagine how you'd feel if you
had to fill out a form and could
see just how much it was costing
you to run the country,
Third-if'you work for an em-
ployer, he has probably taken your
tax out of your pay cheque al-,„
ready, and you might even have a,
rebate coming to you. You'd better
be thankful he didn't have to send
your whole cheque in to Ottawa.'
The way tbingi are going, with
taxes getting bigger all the time
and governments spending money ,
as if grew on trees, the day
may come when your whole darn
weekly cheque' goes straight. to the
tax collector!
