VanStone met with an. accident at her home early Sunday morning, when she missed, one of the lower steps in the stairs. She had retired 'for the night, but decided to go down to adjust the thermostat. Mae, VanStone was taken to hospital, where X-rays later re- vealed a 'fractured vertebra. There was a, large attendance of public school boys at the meeting of the Junior Conservation Club on Monday evening. The high school crowd was noticably absent, all pouring over their books for• the Easter exams. Five boys were on the range at the high school with instructors Terry Nethery, Charlie Davidson, Frank Caskanette, Slim Boucher and the new N.R.A. instructor, John Krug. Four new Gooey cadet rifles have been purchased and the boys tried them out with. excellent success. Bill Mitchell was the best shot of the evening, with a consistent, score of 45 out. of 50. Dr. W. A, McKibboa has donated 5,000 rounds of .22 ammunition. In return for his gift he has requested: to see five targets after each shooting session. Tile boys are all trying hard to produce good scores for the doctor and competition for 'the best 'targets is stiff. The authorities, he said, are stress- ing practical subjects rather than those which fall into the "hobby" Brigade Called to HarriSton Area At noon on Monday the Wing- ham fire brigade was called to the farm of Gordon Morrell, three miles 'west-of 1-larriston, -where it was feared that a fire in a driv- ing shed would spread to the nearby barn. Clifford and Harris- ton brigades were already on the scene.. The fire is reported to have started when a tractor was being filled with gasoline and exploded. Destroyed in the shed were a 1959 car, a tractor and several pieces of farm equipment. Loss was partially covered by insurance, The Wingham firemen had to be summoned by telephone when the siren failed to operate. Repairs were carried out during the noon hour and the siren was back in working order shortly after one o'clock.
