H, Mckinnon, Mr, 'and Mrs. A, B. Smith spent Sunday in Stratford. Mr. and Mrs, Gerald Augustine of Burlington and George Bacon of Stratford spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bacon, Mr, Herb Wheeler and Mr. Ray White are both patients in the Wingham General Hospital. Mr. and. Mrs, Russell Walker of Goderich spent the week-end with relatives in the village. Mr, and Mrs. Ira Campbell and Mr. Floyd Campbell left on Tues- day on a month's holiday with relatives in Florida. Mrs. James Young has returned from a two months' holiday in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Campbell of London, spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Pengelly and Mr, and Mrs, Floyd Campbell. Neelon Will give the address and all the ladies of the community are urged to attend. Miss Mary Laidlaw, who had a Leap Year birthday on Monday, has been poorly this winter. Mrs. Earl Caslick, who had a cataract operation in Victoria Hos- pital last Friday, has been pro- grossing favorably, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Coultes and Mrs. Wallace Conn were at London on Friday and the ladies spent the week-end there, returning home on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Caslick and family, who also visited his mother. Eight tables were in play at the Fordyce euchre last Wednesday night, sponsored by the teacher, Mrs. George Fisher and her pu- pils. Mrs. Myles Ste, Marie and Wayne Martin held high points and Mrs., William Rintoul was the last one to hold the travelling prize for lone hands. All enjoyed the social hour and plans were made to hold another euchre soon, Mr. Herbert Laidlaw has been a patient in Wingham Hospital over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs, Howard Martin and children visited on Sunda4 with Mr. and Mrs. William Mar- tin of Kitchener. Ten tables were in play last Monday night in 5.5. No. 7, on the ninth of East Wawanosh. Leonard Robinson, playing as a lady, and Albert Bicman held high points and Jane Eckenciwiller and Roy :Robinson held low points, Mrs. Mina MeRitehle will give the address at the Day of Prayer meeting to be held on Friday in Calvin-Brick United Church. All the ladies of the community are cordially invited to attend. Mrs. E. Dow and' Donald visited on Thurs,lay with Mr. and Mrs, Jasper Snell of Westfield. Miss Marjorie Currie and Mr, Ed Falconer of London spent the week-end at the home of her mo- ther, Mrs, R. J, Currie. Mr. and Mrs, Robert Gibson of Port Elgin visited there on Sunday. The well-drillers at the home of William Webster got lots of good water on Wednesday at about 200 foot depth. Village children have found they can climb un the roof of the Pres- byterian Church shed on the deep, long snowbank that rises ,on the. east side, and all have a glorious time sliding and rolling down the snowy slopes. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weber and children visited on Sunday at the ,home of his sister, Mrs. Robert Chambers of Harriston. Mr. and Mrs. Chambers and Mr. and Mrs. Weber and baby son went on to : visit with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lin- densebmidt of Walkerton. Mrs, Victor Emerson spent a few days last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tiffin. Harley Gaunt has been under the doctor's care during the past two weeks with searletina, and little ,Tanet Gaunt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, James Gaunt has had whoop- ing cough, and has been with her grandparents, Mr. and John Gaunt. There was no service in the Presbyterian Church on Sunday, as the snowplows had not been through to open up the roads. Rev, Gordon Geiger of Lucknow had charge of the service in the United Church in the afternoon, as Mr. Neelon was:. ill with a throat in- fection. Mr. Rutherford Reavie, who has been a patient in Westminster Hospital, London, for the past few weeks, returned home on Friday. with Mr. Ronald Coultes, who had been to the city, William Reavie of Alliston, also spent the week- end at his home. Mrs. Harold Walker reports that her sister, Miss Gertrude Stewart, reached England last week and will sail for Montreal on April 1., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and Paul, and Mrs, Robert Galbraith were in London on Sunday and John A. Johnston Buried Saturday WHITECHURCH--Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scott and Sens of East Wawanosh, attended, the funeral of her father, John A. Johnston. who passed away on Thursday last, at the home of his daughter, Mrs, William A. Williams of Goderich, He was in his 81st year and had been bedfast for over three years. His wife ,predeceved him six years ago. He leaves to mourn. three daugh- ters, Mrs. Williams; Mrs, Scott, and Mrs. Edgar Stoll of Kipper, and one son, Harvey of Goderich. There are thirteen grandchildren. The funeral was held from the. Lodge Funeral Home to Maitland Bank Cemetery on Saturday, visited with Mrs. Gordon Elliott in Victoria Hospital. Joanne and Jane Laidlaw, ,daugh- ters of Mr, and Mrs. Elroy Laid- law have had measles over the week-end, The March meeting of the Wo- men's Institute will be held 'on Tuesday with the roll call, a hint from the green thumb to the green horn, Mrs, Dawson Craig will demonstrate the planting and care of a house plant and Mrs. J. Kerr of Wingham, will tell of her recent trip to jamaica. All are asked to wear something green or pay a fine. Mrs. Harold Currie, who had been a patient in Wingham Hos- pital during the past week, was able to return home on Monday. Mrs. Robert Montgomery spent the week-end With Mr. and Mrs. Keith Montgomery, Wingham, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Currie and Edward and Linda of Lucknow spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Currie. Little Lorraine MOrrison, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mor- rison is a patient in Wingham Hospital with pneumonia, Miss Norma Forster and Miss Beverley Gaunt of Welles Academy, London, spent the week-end at their home in West Wawanosh. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin McClenag- hand and Michael and Paul Geiger, of Kitchener, spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and MrS. Ben McCien- agh an, The children of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams have the mumps, and the Huffman children on the 4th of Kinloss, have measles. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbson Hamilton of Lucknow visited on Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, A. E. Buckton, Sandra Currie, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Currie of Eatt Wawanosh, had the misfortune tc fall downstairs one day last week and break her right elbow. Mr. ,arid' Mrs. Clarence Hanna and Jean,'Belgrave, and Mrs. John McBurney, spent Tuesday last at Toronto, Mr. Graham Cook and Mr. Harold Slesser of Ripley, and Alan McBurney were in Toronto last week attending the Good Roads Convention, held in the Royal York Hotel. Mr. William Rintoul and Mr. Cairns Aitcheson made .a bussiness trip to Kitchener last Thursday. Miss Sandra Wright of Clifford, spent the week-end at the home of her sister, Mrs. Sidney Thomp- son. Mr. James Forster has been under the doctor's care during the past week. Mr. and Mrs, Alex Robertson and family visited with her father. Mr. Forster, on 'Sunday. Mr. and Mrs.,Lorne Ritchie and Annabelle, of Ripley, spent Sunday at 'the home of his brother, Mr. Clarence Ritchie. Mr. and Mrs. Relison Falconer and family returned home to Sarnia on Sunday, 'after spending the past week with Wingham rela- tives, and with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Falconer. Mr. Joseph Mirehouse, who has been visiting during the past two months at the home of his daugh- ter, Mrs. Fred Tiffin, left on Tues- day for his home at Biggar, Sash, A dance was held on Saturday evening in the Memorial Hall here, by the Library Board. The week- end storm and blocked roads were deterrents to attendance. The twice postponed euchre of S.S. No, 9, East Wawanosh, will be held this Friday evening. Ladies' Guild Holds Meeting BELGRAVE—Mrs. David Arm- strong welcomed the members of the Ladies' Guild to her ,home on Thursday afternoon for their regu- lar meeting. The president, Mrs. Clare VanCarnp.' was in charge and opened the meeting, with a hymn, followed by prayer and the„Lord's prayer in unison. Mrs. Mel Bradhurn read the Scripture lesson, Minutes of the last meeting v3re read by, Mrs, Richard Procter and Mrs, Cooper Nethery gave the financial state- ment. Several letters of thanks were also read. Members were reminded of the World Day of Prayer to be held March 4, in Knox Presbyterian Church, Phial plans were Made for the Morris Federation of Agriculture banquet to which the ladies will cater this week. Party ELTJEVALE--The euchre party sponsored by the Bluevale Wo- men's Institute on Wednesday of last week was well attended, with 21 tables in play. MEETING BIDLGRAVE—The regular meet- ing of the Hi-C group of young people was opened on 'Sunday even- ing with a sing-song led by Pat Logan and Margaret Wightman. The minutes of the .last meeting were read by the secretary, Lorna Bolt, followed by the roll call. The treasurer's report was read by Cameron Robinson and it was announced that the group was invited to a skating party at Gorrie on Tuesday evening. The worship service was opened by the call to worship given by Max Pletch, followed by .a hymn. Douglas Johnson read the Scrip- ture lesson and Ann Currie read a poem entitled "Work". Cameron Robinson took up the offering and it was dedicated. A hymn and prayer by Max Pletch colsed the worship service. Muriel. Coulter led the group in a discussion on "Work". Euchre Winners BELGRA.VE — Harold Procter was the novelty prize winner at the weekly euchre party held in the community centre en Wednes- day evening.
