of the Presbyterian Church held
its meeting on, Wednesday at the
home or Mrs. Frank Coulter, with
nine ladies present, and the presi-
dent, Mrs. Dawson Craig, presid-

ture lesson and in the meditation
period, speaking on "Faith 'and
Love'''. Miss Annie :Kennedy led in
prayer.
Mrs. Craig read a missionary let-
ter"- from. Mrs. Gehinas of South

gave the highlights of the Reeord
and the Clad Tidings. Mrs. Victor
Emerson led in a quiz on the New
Testament, Plans were made for
the World. Day of Prayer, as the
meeting will be held in the Pres-
byterian Church, with all the lad-.
les of the community cordially in-
vited to attend. Mr. A. H. Neelan
will give the address.
The roll can was answered by
naming a Biblical mother, and her
child. Mrs. Craig closed the meet-
ing with prayer.

and Lois, were quite ill with flu,
Mrs. Angus Falconer was also very
ill with flu over the week-end.
Mrs. Roger Inglis of Walkerton,
and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Little
of Hanover, visited for a few days
last week at the 'home of Mr, and
Mrs. Albert Biem.an.
Carloads of young folks were out
on Sunday skiing on the steeper
hills in the district. The snow
seemed to :be just right for the job.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Robinson and
children visited on Sunday with
Mr. 'and Mrs. Joseph Thompson
of Goderich, and report that Jo-
s'eph is a patient • in Goderich
Hospital this week.
Mr. Albert Cameron of Lucknow
was taken to Wingham Hospital
on Friday.

been employed at Harriston during
the past few months, spent the,
week-end with ibis parents, Mr.
and. Mrs. Frank Eckenswiller, and.
all visited in Goderich on Sunday,

leave Clinton Hospital last week,
and has been with her parents, Mr,
,and Mrs. Melvin Mathers of Mor-

Mr; Norman Coultes and Douglas
were in Toronto on Saturday,
where Douglas had a .check-up on
his leg at the Sick Children's Hos-
pital. Jim Coultes and his friend,
Wayne Taylor of Dundas, both
students at 0.A.C., Guelph, spent
the week-end at the Coultes,home.

MrS. E. Dow had the topic, "In-
side Angola", and Old of the work
of the missionaries, and the train-
ing 'schools, Mrs. Mason Robinson
spoke on Christian stewardship
and Miss Violet Langland of Kotai
City, Japan, is the missionary for
Kam'.
Mrs. Norman' Coultes 'presided
for the .business period. Mrs. Bee-
croft gave a report of the recent
Huron Presbyterial oxecutive meet-
ing, where they had discussed' the
allocations -and the needs,. and the
ladies accepted the new ,allocation,,
The roll call was-taken. by the corn-
nuinity friendship secretary and
thank-you notes were read. Miss
Agatha Coultes of Edmonton ex-
pressed her thanks to the ladies for
their thoughtful Christmas remem-
hrance.
Plans were made to hold the Day
of Prayer meeting in the church
and 'Mrs. Mason Robinson, Mrs.
Alex Robertson, Mrs. Gordon Me-
'Burney and Mrs. John Jamieson
wise appointed to attend the spring
Presbyterial at Seaforth. The
meeting closed with the Mizpah
benediction.

Walkerton Meeting
WHITECHURCH— A large num-
ber of women from the ten Insti-
tutes in South Bruce attended the
Summary Day held in .the new
Legion hall. at Walkerton on
Thursday afternoon. The president
of ,pe Whitcchurch group, .Mrs,
Gairnet Farrier, and Mrs. Johnston
Corn, Mrs. Wallace Conn, Mrs.
Russell Ross and Mrs. James Mc-
Innis attended from here.
' Two card tables, were provided
for the exhibit from each Insti-
tute of a 'place setting for "A
Third Meal" aild the tables, beau-
tifully set, were judged and cora-
mented upon by the home econom-
ics representative, Mrs, Mary Mc-
Millan.
Mrs. Russell Ross demonstrated a
jell() dessert and Mrs. Farrier and
Mrs. Conn demonstrated a shep-
herd's pie. Some groups held pan-
el discussions, presented a skit or
gave an interesting reading.

of the United Church met on Wed-
nesday at 'the home of Mrs. E.
groskorth, with 15 ladies present,
Mrs. G. E. Farrier presided for the
Whitechuren group for the devo-
tional period. Mrs. Victor Emer-
Son read the Scripture lesson and
Mrs, Dan Tiffin, Mrs, W,. R. Far-
rier and. Mrs; Russell Punkin as-
sisted with the meditation period,
the theme being the Lord's pray-
er.
Mrs. Dan Tiffin played it plane
solo, "Home, - Sweet Borne", and
Mrs, J. G. Gillespie led in praYar.
Mrs. Ezra Scholtz had the chapter
in the study book, "Africa Dis-
turbed", telling of the drift of ho-
manity from the outer villages to
cities and the problems arising
from lack of homes, family life
and work.
Mrs. I'D, Brecroft gave a short
talk on stewardship, -telling of the
vast numbere. of refugees and how
the 'United Churell helps the dif-
ferent groups and cruises.
Mrs. Millar Moore, the president,
was in charge of the business per-
iod when plans were made to as-
sist at the World Day of Prayer
service. iMitis Jean Stewart, KA.,
of Trinidad' is the missionary for
prayer, and the ladies were asked
to send bunches of Christmas cards
to the Ontario Hospital School at
Smith's Falls.
The March meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. G. E. Farrier,
when the devotional pieaocl will he
in charge of the South Group.
Mrs. James 'Falconer presided for
the meeting of the W.A, and clos-
ed the meeting with prayer,
Mr. And Mrs, Eugene Armitage
of London, visited on Thursday
with Mr. and Mrs. John McBurney,
and their mother, Mrs. James
Young, who had spent the past
two months at Lake Worth, Flor-
ida, accompanied them to her home'
here.
Many friends of Mrs, John Craig
will be sorry to hear that she
returned to Wingham Hospital on
Wednesday last, and underwent
surgery on Friday. She 'has been
quite ill since.
Mr. and Mrs. Mae Cardiff of
Brussels visited on Sunday at the
home of her sister, Mrs, William
Itintoul. Miss Mary Purdon of St.
Helens, spent the week-end at the
Rintoul home.
Mrs. Hector Hamilton of Gorrie
and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bee-
croft, Mrs. E. Dow and Donald,
George McGee, Mr. and Mrs. J. D.
Beecroft 'attended the funeral of
the late Elizabeth Della Simpson
held at London on Tuesday with
interment in Denfield.
