Friday night. The Wingham team;
took -a beating in the !Mat period
which closed with the score board
reading 5-1 for the Lakesidors.
The second and. third periods
proved more rewarding for the
Wingham boys and at t-tie'close of
the game the tables had been
turned, with Wingham on the top
end Of the 11.8 tally..

The local Kinsmen sponsored a
successful two-draw bonspiel at
the local curling rink last Wed-
nesday, which attracted 14 rinks
from Chesley, Stratford, London,
Walkerton, Markdale and Hanover,
as well -as Wingham players.
Top rink of the day was skipped
by Bill Lee 'of Wingham with 3
wins and a plus of 13. His 'team
mates were Warren Callan, Len
Crawford and Mery Templeman.
The Lee rink played in the 9
o'clock draw with the Bob Harris
rink of London placing second
with 2 wins and a plus of 10.
The one o'clock draw was won
by Len. Schmidt's rink of Walker-
ton. with 3 wins and a, plus of 10.
On the Schmidt rink were Boy
Ross, Bud Adams and Det Briscoe.
A Wingham rink skipped by Frank
McCormick, with Bruce MacDon-
ald, Lloyd Carter and Alvin Mof-
fat, drew second place with 2 wins
and a plus of 7.
Members of the Dinette Club ca-
tered for the meals during the
day. Winning rinks received a
fine selection of prizes for their
(efforts.

As the Winter Program. Begins
Three Wingham ,teams.. took to
the ice on Monday night but only
the Juveniles were successful. They
defeated Goderich Juveniles 14-3
in a fast, clean game at the. Wing-.
ham arena. The action merited a
hotter turnout and it is hoped the
boys will receive more spectator
support at the game against- Clin-
ton next Monday night. -
Johnny Brent acted as referee'
for the game. He was assisted. by
John Crawford. of Goderich and
very few penalties were handed out.
Bill Crawford, sat out two minutes
for tr:pping and ,Murray Kerr re-
ceived a Iwo-minute penalty, al-
ong with a Goderich player, for
roughing. A second penalty went
to Goderich 'for slashing.,
Star of this encounter was Bill
Crawford, who pulled the hat
trick and knocked off three goals.
Others who scored for Wingham
were Murray Kerr 2, •Bill Dolli-
more 2, Garry Templeman 2,
George Skinn, Peter Carmichael,
Doug Lockridge, Bill Henry . and
John Fry, one each. John Mork-
ley played his usual steady, game
in the nets, warding off shots on
the Winghain goal from every
tun gie.

The Wingham Crawford Dodgers
slipped' tip sharply on Monday
night when they met the Wiarton
Redmen in the resort town. The
score was Wiarton 9, Wingham 3,
Barry Fryfogle scored twice for
Ihe locals and Maurice Stainton
planted the third tally.

The Bantams travelled to Mild-
may, the same night and took a
real trouncing, chiefly at the hands
of Ken Jones and Donny Liesemcr
'of the Mildmay squad, who scored
five and four goals respectively.
The final outcome was Mildmay 13
and Wingham 3. Doug 'Campbell,
Keith -Scott and Allan Harrison
snared the three for the Wingham
team.

Mrs. W. J. Johnston attended the
funeral service for her sister, Mrs.
Milton Watson, at Gorrie on Tues-
day, Mrs. Watson Was born at
Bluevale and lived here formerly.
She was the daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stewart.

by four points. Doug Murray of
the Dodgers, was tied With Bev
Woods of Port Elgin for highest
points for scoring. They had 29
points each.
