Mrs. George Naylor, who will be
greatly missed by this neighbor-
hood, whete she has spent her en-
tire life. •
CUPBOARDS FOR HALL
TOPIC OF DISCUSSION
ST. HELENS-The January
meeting of the W.I. was held in
the hall with an attendance of 20
membees. Roll call was answered,
The minutes were read and busi-
ness dealt with.
A discussion arose .on getting
cupboards for the hall, It was
decided to send and have one unit
by the next meeting and !decide
definitely, if suitable.
Mrs, Fred McQuillin, home econ-
omics and health convener, took as
her topic "Our Lungs", and gave a
very interesting paper„ The Maple
Leaf was sung. Two readings were
given by Miss W. D. Rutherford,
and a piano instrumental by Mrs.
William Rutherford.
Current events, prepared by Miss
Mary Murray were read by Mrs.
W. A. Miller, and a well prepared
motto was given by Mrs. Eldon

tertained: the Woman's Missionary
Society of Gorrie United Church
on Thursday evening. Rev. J. E.
Clarke conducted the installation
of officers for 1960.
Mrs. V. Ca,rsen, chose as the
theme "The Dedication to Christ's
Way". She said that the com-
munion service Is in remembrance.
As we start a new year, what are
we doing to he remembered by?
We must do more than think about
good deeds. We must do them
now. Mrs. W. C. King read the
'Scripture.
Mrs. C. Hute gave the study
book on the women in Africa in
the changing times. The churches'
greatest help to the African is to
help them find a place in that new
modern way of living,
Mrs. Glad Edgar read a poem,,
"At the Gate of the Year", Mrs.
Gerald Galbraith, president, led in
prayer for missionaries, and con-
ducted the business period. Re-
port of Mission Band, Baby Band
and W.M.S. were given with the
over allocation passed, Three
bales were sent, one overseas, to
Muncey Reservation and one to
B,C. The hostess assisted by the
committee served refreshments,

Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Miller and
'Doris have moved into Mrs. John
Miller's house in Lucknow for 'the
winter months.
Mrs. Allan Cranston won first
prize and Mr. Allan Miller second
for ladies; Lorne Forster first and
Terry Wilson, second for gents at
the shoot party sponsored by the
Women's. Institute in the commun-
ity hall on Friday night. There
were seven tables playing.
Mr. and Mrs, Fred Thompson
and Benny of Exeter were week-
end visitors with Mrs. Thompson's
parents, Mr, and Mrs, Gordon Mac-
Pherson.

ris, Mrs. Clare Harris and Miss
Pat Harris were eo-hostesses
miscellaneous shower on Jan. 2nd,
held et the forafer's home in honor
of Miss Minnie Winkel, bride-el-
ect of Saturday.
A recipe file was compiled for
the ,guest of honor. Several eon-
tests were enjoyed after which
Runde was presented with, many
lovely gifts. The bride-to-be thank-
ed ,everyone. Lunch was served
by the hostesses.
Miller, "Good health and good
sense are two of life's ,greatest
blessings", was read by Mrs, Ross
Gammie, -
The meeting closed with the
National Anthem and Institute
grace, after which a social time
was had over a lovely Windt served
by the hostesses,

MR. and MRS. D. D, HAMILTON
of Winnipeg celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary January 0th
with an open house. Mr. Hamill-
ten was born in, Rossieurn, Man.,
and Airs. Hamilton in. Gorrie, They
were married, in. 191a in Rosebura
and lived in Heinen', until 194
when they moved to Winnipeg.
Mr. Hamilton retired from the
CM in 1948. He is a Mason and
Mrs, Hamilton is a member of the
Ladies' Auxiliary to the Brother-
hood of ltallevay Trainmen, TIIe
Hamilton's have five children.

Raisin Brea S. J. Stinson Dies
At County Home
GORRIE-A resident of Gerrie
for most of his life, Samuel James
Stinson passed away suddenly at
the Huron County Home, Clinton,
on Friday, January 8th in his 84th
year.
He Was horn in Gorrie on Feb-
ruary 5th, 1870, and lived in the
same house during his lifetime in
Gorrie. 11e was a son of the late
John StinseY and Elizabeth Wil-
son, As a young man he spent; a
few years in the Canadian West,
and for the last few years he had
lived in Clinton. He was urie
married. In his early life he was
a 'baker and later a painter and
paper hanger,
A. nephew, Williant Stinson of
Detroit, ,s'arvives,
Funeral service Was at the Moir
funeral home 'in Gorrie on Mone
day, tenthieted by the Rey. E. C.
Attwell of St. Stephen's Anglican.
Church, turlal was in the Gorrie
cemetery.
