At noon HMI LIONS ENTERTAIN LADIES WROXETER Howiek Lions held their annual Christmas holi- day party on Tuesday night of last week in the lVfolveworth Presby- terian Church schoolroom with an attendance of et) Lions- and ladies. Ladies of the church catered for the turkey banquet. President Donald McLaughlin presided and head table guests. were Mr. and Mrs. MeLaughlin, Mr. and Mrs, John Clatke, Mr, and Mrs. Harold Townsend and Rev, J, R. L, and Mrs. McClure. Mr. McClure spoke words of wel- come and an excellent musical program was enjoyed including violin selections by David Adams, accompanied by Carol Simpson; mouth orgeer selections by David Simpson; fvoca,14 solos, Jan Simp- son, accompanied bye! Tornmy Mitchell. All enjoyed singing, carols with Tom Mitchell at the piano. Russel Martin showed colored pic- tures of local interest. Santa Claus arrived and from a well laden tree each lady received a gift. Ken. Edgar, tail twister, had a busy evening and conducted a draw. Winners were Donald Mc- Laughlin, Mrs. J. H. Mrs. Naylor, was al- most 87 years old and was formerly Elizabeth Robinson, the last of the family of twelve children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sanwa Robinson, of West Wawanosh, She was married to George Nay- lor, who ,passed away following an, accident, over 35 years ago, She made her home with their only son, Gordon, and his wife and fam- ily, on their home farm on the 9th concession of East Wawa,noele, Mrs. Naylor was a life long member of Donnybrook United. Church. Mrs. Naylor has .had very poor health for several years, Interment will be in Wingham Cemetery on Wednesday from the Keith Arthur funeral home, Auburn. Louis Demerling, 93, died at his home in Clifford on Saturday. He had been a resident of that village for 20 years and was an ex-reeve of Howiek Township. ' He, was -born at Neustadt but had farmed in. Howiek Township for' marry years, His wife, the former Fredericka Gadke died fifteen years ago. Mr. Demerling is survived by ten sons, William, of Kurtzville; Fred and An-son, of Fordwich; Al- bert, of London; John., Fenelon Falls; Edward, Neustaelt; Ezra and Eldon, of Clifford; Milton, of Tor- onto, and Harvey, of Howick Twp.; a daughter, Mrs. Edward Maas, .of Hamilton; 36 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. The service was on Monday after- noon at St. John's Lutheran Church, Clifford. Burial was in Howiek Lutheran Cemetery. CARDS OF THANKS Mrs. N. M. Ringrose Dies in 67th Year Friends here were saddened to learn of the sudden passing New Year's day of Mrs. Nellie M. Ring- rose, of Wingham. Mrs. Ringrose, a registered nurse, had recently been on the 'staff of the Wingham General Hospital and her demise followed a brief illness. Born in Cuiross Township on July 25th, 1894, she was the daugh- ter of the late John Walters and Elizabeth Charters. Twenty-one years ago she was' married to the late Nelson Ringrose in Wingham, who passed away in 1956, Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Robert Coleman, (Myrtle), Port Hope; Mrs. Elwood Nicol, (Annie), of Wingham, and Miss Emma Wal- ters, Toronto, as well as one bro- ther, Albert Walters., of Wingham. The deceased graduated in nurs- ing from Victoria Hospital, London, in 1923. She lived for several years in Teeswater before moving to Wingharn. She was an mem- ber of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church where she was. -also a mem- ber of the WMS. She -had retained her membership in the Teeswater Rebekah Lodge. The remains 'rested at the Currie funeral home, Wingham, until Monday January 4th, where funer- al services were held with Rev, T, E. Kennedy 'and Rev. T. T. Me-Kin- ney officiating. Interment was made 'at the Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Messrs. Ross MeRae, Robert McKague, William Rintoul, Allan Nicol, John Walters and Wilfred Walters. Flower bear- ers were Paul Rintoul and Wayne Nicol. WANTED Brother Passes In 76th Year WROXETER — Sympathy is ex- tended to Mrs. Rachel Gibson whose 'brother, John Willis, passed away suddenly in London in his 76th year. Mr. Willis was a native of Wroxeter. He is survived by his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Barnard, of London, and Mrs. Rachel Gibson, of Wroxeter. Me Willis was presi- dent of Moore-Smyth-Willis Lim- ited, general insurance, an active member of First St. Andrew's United Church and many other organizations throughout the city.
