the Lord
created
teachers
BY DOROTHY L. THORNTON
It was on the first day of the week, following the Sabbath that
the good Lord created teachers. He had firmly decided that the
creating of this creature needed more care and time than most of
his previous models. A forty -hour week would indeed be
required with perhaps some overtime on a night shift.
First he must design a pattern and mould that would fulfill all
necessary requirements. The material for a teacher must be
genuine metal with self-lubricating parts.
All standard models must have at least two sets of eyes and
perhaps two more single ones, to detect mischief makers, and
misdemeanors but also be able to recognize wounded and hurt
feelings and sad moods. Eyes that close easily are necessary too,
when small acts of mischief are better left undetected. A special
eye to watch the children inside the classroom as the teacher
walks down the hall would be a great advantage also.
As He sat there contemplating, the angel that was head of this
lepartment appeared and said, "What do you plan to do about
hands for this model?" The usual order of one pair, will not
suffice here." "How about three pair of hands?" asked the Lord.
