PREFORMING ARTS COMMITTEE SET
UP IN GODERICH
The acquisition of an arts centre for
Goderich took a step closer to reality last
month with the formation of the Goderich
Performing Arts Foundation by a group of
10 local citizens.
The major objective of the group is to see
the renovation of an old livery stable just
off The Square into a preforming arts
centre with a 300 -seat theatre. That
building was saved from demolition late
last year when a number of citizens, led by
Mrs. Dorothy Wallace purchased the
bui!ding only hours before it was scheduled
to be torn down.
The architectural firm of Hill and Borgal
has been working on plans for the
conversion of the building and total costs,
including purchase of the building from the
present owners is set at S200,000, an
amount Mrs. Wallace says she has been
assured is "very generous".
The next objective of the group is to raise
sufficient funds to begin the work.
Fitness is fun.
Try some.
