dies quickly. Just a recording studio in our area here would never
pay. I'm sure it would never make enough money if you went at it
full time.
"But it's surprising the musicians it's bringing out of the
woodwork. People who are genuinely interested in doing
something just for their own benefit."
But the professional work is also starting to come in. "We
really hadn't counted too much on it." Ernie says. "1 was hoping
what we could attract was local groups in the area who had been
playing together for quite a few years and wanted to hear
themselves on a reasonably good tape. By hearing themselves
they can better themselves a lot; they can improve."
Such opportunities to record are not all that common with
amateur and semi-professional groups or even professional
groups without a big reputation. Most professional recording
studios are set up for professionals. They may rent to amateurs if
the group has the money. but the rental fee is far beyond what
most groups can afford. Ernie knows of no other studio set up to
service semi-professionals as his is.
With that in mind. costs are being kept as low as possible.
