ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL STARTED
IN STRATFORD
Many people are upset with the present
education system but few do much about it
but a group of parents in the Stratford area
have decided to do something. They have
formed the Perth County Community
School with one teacher, a parent to help
and 11 students between the ages of five
and 10.
One of the parents involved sainhat the
parents were dissatisfied with the lack of
individual attention and the large class
sizes of public schools.
The school is set up in the Stratford
Youth Hostel and has the use of one room
as classroom, and the building's gymnas-
ium. The ministry of education provides
guidelines to show what level of education
should be reached at the end of each grade
but these aren't necessarily followed, a
parent says.
The parents pay a tuition fee of $60 per
month for their children to attend and this
is the only source of revenue for the school.
