money and, according to Skip, her uncle leads the parade. Percy
sure don't show it, either with the old boat or lack of fancy dress.
Just two outfits -her oversized sweater and slacks if it's cold and
the big, sloppy, sweat shirt and shorts come hot weather.
Usually bikes in to the marina or, now and then a big Packard
touring that's about 40 years old and kept in top trim. Real eye
stopper, that.'
Second summer I worked out my time with Skip, the redhead
holes the old Whitewater 11 on a moonlight sail when she hit a
dead head. Like some of the older men and darn few of the young
punks. she does a good bit of her annual scraping and painting
and refitting. But this is a bit much, so she propositions me to
work with her for two of my days off. 1 say. 'sure', and we cut out
the busted planks and do all the refitting, about 21 hours of my
