She smiles at the thought of people who travel far and wide to try to get a dress different from their neighbours. She often sees dresses in Toronto stores that are the same as she sells in her shop. There are only a few mills making fabrics, she says, and often two or three dress -making companies will be using the same fabrics. The cut of the dress may be different, but the look will be the same because the same material is used. Loree concentrates more on dresses and separates in her shop and doesn't get into pant suits in a big way. She works hard at the organization of her business. keeping track of what dresses from what companies sell well and what companies are reliable in deliveries. In this way, she says, she can learn which companies are most worthwhile dealing with and which she's better off without. That was part of her training at Sheridan. She also studied design, colour. accessories, the history of costumes, display. public speaking and human relations, to give her a well-rounded knowledge of the necessities of the clothing business. The course has proved popular, and all graduates have found willing employers waiting, something not common these days. While she took the brave step of jumping out on her ow✓n. Loree is content to her her business grow at its own pace now. She'd like to keep the shop small and personal, she says, and get by on her own without adding employees, unless the business just takes off on its own. She likes her location. right beside the local post office, with display windows on two sides, and in general is just plain happy to be doing what she wants. where she wants.
