UP FRONT
We hope you'll pardon us if we toot our own horn a little this
month. In the rough and tumble business of publishing
magazines we've managed to survive five whole years. It was
April 1973 that the first issue of Village Squire magazine came
off the press. To celebrate the occassion of our anniversary we
have a special story looking back and a special offer for new
subscribers. Both will be found inside.
This is also our regular spring food issue. We have a special
section inside devoted to food with stories such as an informal
comparison of food costs at various stores throughout the region.
There's a story too on Stacey Bros. a family dairy business in
Mitchell. Looking into the future, it may soon be possible to buy
tomatoes, cucumbers and other locally grown vegetables in the
middle of winter, thanks to a proposal to use waste heat from the
Bruce generating station to heat green houses.
Also in this issue, Frances Barrick takes a look at a gem of a
family business, Anstett's Jewellers in Clinton, Seaforth and
Walkerton where the whole family gets inb, the act.
And the back of the book is full of features including the return
of the daytripping column for spring and a theatre feature on
the crazy group of actors from Newfoundland, Codco, which will
be coming to the area this month.
And we have a new feature, Profile, about interesting people
in Western Ontario.
