Village Squire, 1977-11, Page 29Letter to the editor

To the Editor:
I feel I must express my opinion on the
coverage given by your "dining expert" to
the Albion Hotel in the August issue. As
well as being boring reading. 1 feel it
unfair.
We dined there in September and,
though the food- was not inspiring, we
found it and the service adequate; the one
waitress having to serve the bar customers
as %%ell as those in the dining room. We did
not go to eat there to find out whether
those serving us had graduated in Honours
English or even completed Grade 10.
Perhaps the writer should check his own
spelling;"tastey" "surloin"! The remarks
such as "to fill the gap". "cut from an
elephant" and the continual "the lady"
are hardly imaginative writing. Was the
writer's criticism coloured by the fact th:t
there were no "french fries"? In which
case he could do a comparative study of
MacDonald's. A&W and any other
take-out food chain.
1 don't feel the Albion has pretensions to
he a great restaurant but a comfortable.
pleasant one, with a presentable menu.
Yours truly,
!Mrs.' Mary -Jean Maitland.
