We all wish we could create beautiful things with our
hands. Stuart Taylor of Goderich does more than wish. He has
the skill to turn wood into beautiful carvings and he's lused
that skill to fill a house with his achievements, both
ornamental and practical.
Debbie Ranney visited his home recently and came away
impressed with his work.
Shortly after 10 a.m. and three p.m. businesses in Clinton
seem to empty...at least all but one. That one is Bartliff's
Restaurant where half the town seems to congregate at times
to exchange information or do business over a cup of coffee.
In that way, Bartliff's has become an institution in Clinton.
But the sweet success of its bakery has also made the
business a popular stop on a Clinton shopping trip.
Once learning to spin was an essential for anyone who
wanted to survive in pioneer Canada. Progress put and end to
that and spinning wheels were banished to the attic and later
to the antique shop where they became strictly decorative.
But there is a renewied interest in spinning your own yarn
and a young Belgrave-area couple are part of the, revival. The
Kerrs of Drumclog Farm tell more about their hobby turned
business.
Ever wanted to own a few acres and raise a few animals?
Adrian Vos once did and bought a few acres. The hobby farm
became a way of life and now he's a full-time farmer who also
writes periodically for Village Squire. This month he tells of
his experiences as a hobby farmer.
