ART
Western Ontario Exhibition,
London Art Gallery,
305 Queen's AVe.,
London, Ontario.
The London Art Gallery's Western
Ontario exhibition is an annual display of
juried art work submitted by artists
residing in the Southwestern Ontario
region.
This year, a collection of 78 works were
selected from 364 entries by 213 artists by
the following jurors: Gary Greenwood,
Artist, Past Spokesperson, C.A.R.O.;
Rebecca Sisler, Artist and Director of the
Sisler Gallery, Toronto; Robert Swain,
Director, the Gallery/Stratford.
The quality of submissions this year for
the show was remarkably high and jurors
had great difficulty making their final
selection.
The pieces chosen represent the
creations of both well known artists and
virtual newcomers. Often the Western
Ontario Exhibition has been the vehicle
through which a young, unknown artist
could receive his or her first public
exposure. The Gallery feels that it is
important to retain this tradition of an open
annual juried exhibition to offer this
opportunity to the artists of the region.
MADE GLORIOUS: STAGE DESIGN AT
STRATFORD: The Gallery Stratford.
Gallery/Stratford announced its Summer
Exhibition, Made glorious; stage design at
Stratford; 25 YEARS. The exhibition is

exhibition is being provided by Mutal Life
of Canada whose head offices are in
Waterloo, Ontario.
The exhibition will be drawn from the

Festival and will have added documents
from the Festival Archives. It will trace the
development and changes in design at
Stratford for the past 25 years. Over 50
costumes have been chosen. A portion of
the exhibit will be given to demonstrating
how a costume is designed and put
together. A colour catalogue will be
produced with funds coming from the
Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Family
Foundation.
