But perhaps the .greatest potential with
the new generation of inexpensive
computers, Fred says, is for the small
businessman. He predicts a business
revolution which, he says, big companies
like IBM just don't understand is going to
happen. Within three years he says, the
small businessman will be able to get the
equivalent of todays $30-40.000 computers
for about $5,000-$6,000. The potential of
the small computers is immense, he says,
particularly for companies which must
keep mailing lists. To prove his point he is
planning to put his company's mailing list
on the computer. Mrs. Looker now spends
most of her time looking after the additions
and changes in the mailing list. By using
the computer, the time required will be
drastically cut.
The company has sold several of the
computers already including to several
community colleges and to Toronto
General Hospital. Who knows. in a few
years the small computers may be as
popular as colour television and snow: mo-
biles?
