THIS MONTH
One of the headaches of the magazine business is that
deadlines are so early that often you can get caught with your
pants down. The thing that so often happens is that a magazine
features a story on a sport star, only to find out by the time the
story appears the guy is now playing for another team.
Sometimes the central figure in a story may be dead by the time
the story reaches the reader.
Our deadlines at Village Squire are not so advanced as most
magazines, but we still nearly got caught out last month. We
featured an article on three new weekly newspapers in tills
region. One week after the magazine went in the mail, one of the
papers, the Independent News in Exeter, merged with its
competitor, the Times -Advocate. Whew, that was close. I
This month we take a look at two small shops, one new and ope
a veteran: The new one is the Kitchen Cupboard in Blyth. The ad
timer is the Between Shoppe in Stratford.
Those who like visual art have a good opportunity to see sore
of the area's top artists in one show at the Blyth Summer FestVal
this summer. We have a story on the show.
Irene McBride is back with one of her hilarious escapades, lis
time into a hospital.
The Squire's Chef this month takes a look at preparing *cork
and our reviewer visits Gene's Restaurant in Stratford.
