Extended second
season
at Blyth Festival
There is both familiarity and change at
the Blyth Summer. Festival for its second
season.
There were complaints from patrons last
year, not about the fare on stage, but about
the discomforts of the theatre itself. The
biggest change this year is• in the theatre.
The old varnish that disintegrated to
something the consistency of fly -paper in
last year's heat has been stripped off all
the seats and they have been refinished so
theatre goers won't stick to the seats
anymore. That's just one of the many
improvements that took place in the
theatre over the winter in a major
renovation program. Those who sweltered
through the heat of last summer will also
be happy to hear that new ventilations and
air conditioning facilities have been
installed. And the theatre has been
completely redecorated including laborious
refinishing of the old wood throughout the
building.
In addition, for the enjoyment of patrons
before and after the theatre and during
intermissions, there will be a display of art
by local artists downstairs.
