As some folks may already know, THE ARBOR,
located on Albert Street has new owners - Wayne and
Lois Holtzhauer.
The Holtzhauers invite you to come and visit with

This month
Summer is finally here and that means a busy season for
residents of this area. Suddenly all sorts of attractions are open to
us.
One of the biggest things in Western Ontario is the summer
theatre season. There are now three summer theatres in the area
offering a wide variety of entertainment. We've detailed, this
month -what the Stratford Festival, Huron Country Playhouse
and Biyth Summer Festival will offer this summer.
In Coderich, the Historic Huron County Gaol is open for the
summer season as well. Last year saw about 15,000 people go
through the building to get a look at what life used to be like on
the other side of the bars. It wasn't very good.
This year a good deal of work has been done restoring the
building and some interesting discoveries have been made about
the early construction of the 140 -year-old building. We tell
something about these in a story in this issue.
Towns of a decent size at the turn of the century almost always
had two weekly newspapers, just as they had a wide variety of
other businesses. But over the years it's become traditional that
towns only have one newspaper. In three area towns, however,
that tradition has been upset in the past year. We take a look at
the two -paper towns of Exeter, .Kincardine and Port Elgin.

HOW TO READ YOUR LABEL
Is your Squire due?
The address on each copy of The Village Squire bears a code
telling when the subscription is due. At the beginning of the code
is the month the subscription is due: say August for example. The
month is followed by a series of numbers, the last one of which
represents the year your subscription is due. If the last number is
a 6 then the subscription is due in 1976; if a 7 then 1977 and so
on.
Please check your label(and see if your subscription is due. It
may also save you money. Changes are in the works which will
see a much larger, better Village Squire. But with the increase in
size, subscription prices will also have to increase. Check your
label now and if your subscription is due, send in your cheque
and save.
