What is the difference between food for sale in
our shop and food which one can purchase
elsewhere? .
The food we sell preserves as far as possible the
whole nutritional value of a particular food.
BONE MEAL: supplies a balanced source of
calcium, phosphorus, iron, and other elements.
Bone meal is the powdered bones of young beef.
Bone meal aids digestion, strengthens the bony
framework of the body, improves blood health,
helps prevent tooth decay, and contributes to
healthy nerves.
SNOWFLOWER SEEDS: are 25% protein. It is
also a very good source of vitamins, minerals and
calcium. They also help in checking tooth decay
and bleeding gums.
Little Miss Muffet....eating her "curds & whey"
YOGURT - when eaten will improve your health
and digestion. It helps keep the intestinal tract
free from bacteria. The protein in yogurt is easier
to digest and the calcium is more readily
assimilated by older people. Yogurt manufactures
generous amounts of B vitamins in the intestinal
tract which in turn keep the entrails vigorous and
clean, contribute predigested protein, and
facilitate digestion.
KELP: is found in the ocean. Kelp gives a liberal
supply of iodine. It is an ideal mineral supplement.
An analysis of kelp indicate that it contains amino
acids, vitamins and minerals - all naturally
balanced.

This month
April is food month for the Village Squire. The second annual
food issue of Village Squire looks at many aspects of culinary
delight.
There's the sweetness of Canadian spring featured irtan article
on maple syrup. There's an article on the growing acceptance of
Canadian wines, some that even fool international wine tasters.
There's the story of a little restaurant in Hensall that tries to
make the humble bean the king of the menu and there's a story
on a big restaurant in Stratford that has helped fill a need for
good restaurants in the Festival season.
Our cover story features a look at Covent Garden Market in
London, a colourful, interesting food and people place in the
heart of the city. Artist Ron Walker took a look at the market in
his sketchbook.
And just in case anyone finds this literary diet too fattening,
there are a few non-food items, like a short story for children by
A L Rodges or a travel article on a place that will be a popular
destination of summer journies: Prince Edward Island.
We hope you'll enjoy reading this issue and not make too many
trips to the refrigerator along the way.
