This month
One of the legends of the broadcasting industry in Canada is
"Doc" Cruickshank, • the man who built something of a
broadcasting empire in the relatively little town of Wingham,
Ontario. February 20, 1976 marked the 50th anniversary of the
beginning of that legend and Village Squire recalls again the
story of that beginning, the fascinating story of the growth and a
look at the future. -
Meanwhile another beginning has been made in a different
part of the entertainment field in the region. In London, a group
of enthusiastic young people have begun a small alternative
theatre, Centre Stage in the middle of one of the city's most
,impressive shopping malls. The people behind the theatre tell
their story to The Village Squire.
The Squire this month visited the Keg 'n Cleaver in London
and found that being a chain operation is not necessarily a bar to
being a good restaurant.
The Squire's Chef takes a look at hearty spring soups.
And there's a short story about a civil servant who gets carried
away and the interesting results.

Watch next month for the annual Village Squire special food
issue with all kinds of interesting stories to do with food in
Western Ontario.
