as sitting at home in the Iivingroom. Travel by open cutter was far
from it. Travel by car is not only comfortable, but speedy. A
10 -mile trip is nothing in a car, it was a heck of a journey for
people in a cold sleigh.
But on the other hand, the horse and sleigh always started and
seldom got stuck, more than we can say for our modern
transportation. And people were sensible 'enough in the old days
to pick weather to travel in. Today few people do.
The secret is that people used to adapt their lives to nature: -
Today we try to conquer it. We refuse to give in. We refuse to try
to admit that there is any difference needed in our lifestyle
between winter and summer. Look at how people dress. The hat,
for instance, is out Of style so most refuse to wear a hat even in
