Village Squire, 1975-04, Page 26show contains sections of either violence or
sex that are controversial and may be found
objectionable to some people. (Of course this
can also help increase viewing as people
watch to see what's so controversial).
Anyone, however, who watches these shows
has no right to complain. There is both an
on-off button and a channel selector di& on
every television station.
But Canadian television stations also have
the responsibility to provide not only this
"uplifting" drama but programming for all
levels of society. If people like shows like the
Partridge Family, then at least some of the
resources of the C.B.C. should be devoted to
giving this audience Canadian shows like
Partridge Family. These people, after all are
paying the bills for the C.B.C.'s snobbish
directors and writers.
Both sides of this infantile dispute should
get off their high horses and come down to
earth. Somewhere between the extremes, is
the middle road to both honesty and
entertainment.

STORM
Tonight as I stand peering out to sea,
The roar of the wind finds an echo in me.
The waves roll in with irresistible force,
The foam like the mane on a racing horse.
The wind screams high on natures scale,
Before the storms power man's heart must quail.
Chain lighting tears the darkness asunder,
I huddle on the pier all filled with wonder.
The crashing thunder shakes the night apart,
Making fingers of fear tighten on my heart.
I rise to my feet and wend my way home,
Leaving the wind, and waves, and thunder, and foam.
