G O D E R I C H 524-8366 This month With this issue Village Squire celebrates its second anniversary. It also marks the first time we've dedicated part of one issue to one theme. And what better theme in our area than food. We live here in one of the most beautiful food producing areas of the world in Western Ontario. The variety of food produced and manufactured in the area is astounding. One of the oldest local rural Ontario foods is cheese. In a series of three articles we take a look at cheese production and distribution in the area and meet some interesting people involved in this truely local, if fast disappearing industry. If your tastes are for more exotic fare, then we've a story for you on Heimrich's, the unique Stratford shop that offers foods from around the world. But if you want plain, natural foods, then a store like Goderich's Bay Leaf may be more your cup of tea. We also have new restaurant listings and review on a night at the Twin Gables Hotel in Listowel. And a new feature begins this month by Ron Rudd, the former restaurant reviewer for Village Squire who'll be dishing out tips on different dishes to try. All of this food business was enough to kill the best intentions of weight conscious staff so we also have some other, less fattening features. The little community of Vanastra near Clinton has a big portion of community spirit as can be seen by •the new community recreation centre the citizens have built. There's something about the soring weather that seems to draw us toward the water. This month we take a different look at the lakeside. And this month we give space for an opanion piece on sex and bad language on television which readers may, or may not agree with. We invite comments either for or against and we also invite articles from other interested people who may have opinions they would like to present before our readers. Help! Our readers have shown a great deal of concern in the past for the continued success of the magazine. ,Now we're calling on those of you who can help out. We need 1,000 new paid subscribers in the near future to allow continued growth of the magazine. In order to get these we've lowered the price for subscriptions (new only) to 50 cents for a short, period. Inside there is a convenient form for you to fill out and send in with the names of persons you think would be interested in the magazine. We hope you'll help out.
