Theatre
LAUGHS A PLENTY:
A night of laughter is presented by Blyth
Little Theatre in Memorial Hall Theatre,
Blyth, Sunday night, February 16 at 8 p.m.
The first half of the evening will be a one -act
comedy, The Wedding featuring the younger
members of the group. Starring Rick Snell,
something of a veteran in comedy, and
Debbie Hicks. The second half of the night is
a musical review, locally written and directed.
TAKE A BEAVER TO LUNCH:
As if Dave Broadfoot and Carol Robinson
didn't have enough of taking a Beaver to
Lunch after a seven month run in Toronto,
they've now embarked on a 28 -stop tour of
Ontario. Two of the stops will be in this area:
in Blyth Memorial Hall February 27 at 8:30
p.m. and in Listowel at the High School on
March 1, at 8 p.m.
The show not only played in large
audiences but drew critical acclaim; acclaim
such as this from a Montreal journalist who
finished his column with this remark:
"As the show ended - to some of the most
enthusiastic applause I have ever heard in
any theatre anywhere, I overheard a
conversation that made me feel typically
Canadian. Two men, obviously executives,
had been seated in front of me and both
enjoyed the show immensely. After much
laughter and applause they both rose to go,
as they did, one asked, 'Who is he?'
"Gentlemen, he is Dave Broadfoot one of
the funniest men in Canada, when he has the
right material. This time he had just the right
kind. The results were the sort of thing we'd
pay an arm and a leg for in New York or
Londog. Don't miss it! Your friends will never
forgive you."
That's the kind of review few shows even
hope to get. Tickets for the Blyth show are
$3.50 and available at The Village Squire
office or through the mail.
