Recent years have seen a new form of
business come into being: the boutique, or
small cozy shop selling anything from
outlandishly modern clothing to crafts to
antiques.
In fact, the boutique field is so varied that
there are only two common denominators
among boutiques: a smallness in the size of
the shop and a catchy, often kooky name.
Our favourite of all time is a men's wear
store on Yonge Street in Toronto that
specialized in the avant garde fashions. It was
called "The Brick Shirt House".
There is a growing demand for new names
and good ones are harder to find. Let's help
out potential boutique owners in the area by
coming up with some catchy names. Send in
the name of a boutique that you'd like to see
used and the type of merchandise a store with
that name would be likely to sell. Address all
entries to The Game, Village Squire, Box 10,
Blyth.
The name judged to be best will be given a
free copy of Harry J . Boyle's novel The Great
Canadian Novel. Contest closes Feb. 21.
Winners will appear in the March issue.
