June is not exactly a great time of the year for places to
go in this part of the country. The local farmers are busy
finishing seeding and beginning haying so they aren't going
anywhere. The tourists aren't here in droves yet so summer
activities are limited. Still, if you want to go out this next
month, there is a fair variety of things to see and do.
CLINTON SPRING FAIR: Ontario's largest spring fair will he
held this year on June 1, 2 and 3 in Clinton. It's been
growing steadily in the past few years and besides the usual
stock shows, midway and parade, there is an exceptional
trade show in the arena. This year there will be an enter-
tainment extra on Saturday night with the Allan Sisters,
from the Tommy Hunter Show performing.
THEATRE: Mystery at Green Fingers, a J. B. Priestly mystery -
comedy is the production of the Blyth Little Theatre on
June 1-2. The play will be performed in Blyth Public School
because of repairs being made to Blyth Memorial Hall, the
company's regular home. Curtain time, 8:30 p. m. Tickets,
$1. 50.
ROYAL BROTHERS CIRCUS: Will perform in Seaforth on
June 4 at Seaforth Optomist Park at 6 and 8 p. m. It will
move on to Cannaught Park, Kincardire on June 6 for two
more shows (same time). The usual circus fare of animal
acts, jugglers and acrobats. Visitors are invited to watch the
circus tent go up in the morning of the show and attend a
special feeding of the animals.
GARDEN BROTHERS CIRCUS: In Goderich on June 4. What
to expect? See above.
FASHION SHOW: F.E. Madill Secondary School, Wingham is
the scene of Spring in Paris, a fashion show on May 31 at
8:15 p. m.
FESTIVAL 73: The Goderich Lions Club is presenting this
Music Festival at Goderich District Collegiate Institute on
May 31 and June 1 and 2. The show will present a brief
memorable trip around the world through music and cost-
umes. Special guest performers include Marianne McCaffrey
of Exeter, conductor of the Huronia Men's Choir and Marilyn
Zivkovic, Exeter, internationally known concert singer.
Showtime, 8 p. m.
BAZAAR: The Huron Country Playhouse near Grand Bend is
holding a bazaar at the playhouse on June 3 starting at noon.
There will be games, prizes, antiques and food, all in supp-
ort of the coming season of the area's only professional
theatre.
GERMAN WINE AND BEER FEST: A dance with a difference
will be held June 9 at Goderich arena. Only 500 tickets will
be sold. Music by the
MOVIES: You've got plenty of choice where you go this
time of year but it isn't all good. There are drive-ins in
Clinton, Goderich, Kincardine and Listowel all within easy
driving distance and all waiting to take your money.
Whether or not you can find something on the bill you'd like
to see is another matter. We leave it to you and your own
tastes. Check the local newspaper for details. Indoor theatre
fair is skimpy. The Lyceum in Wingham is closed right now
and the Park at last word may also be closing for June and
July. Again, check your local paper for details.
BARBECUES: If you'd like to get out of the house for a
supper, you'll get plenty of chance. There are barbecues
all over the place in the next while, from Kinburn to
Egmondville. There is probably one in your particular area.
