After several years of operating at a loss, the coop with the financial assistance of the United Co-operatives of Ontario, showed a profit of $87,325, up from last year's $82,855, according to Manager Dave Dawson. The board of directors also announced at the annual meeting that after a thorough search, a financial institution has been found to support the co-op. President Bob Rutledge announced that the co-op has reached an agreement .on a financing package with the Ontario Credit Union League Limited, commonly.known as the Credit Union Central of Ontario. Broker, Kincardine Meals on Wheels The success of the youthful Meals on Wheels in Lucknow has prompted organizers to add another meal during the week bringing the number of days meals are available to three. Mary Doyle and ; uth Thompson of the organization said that at the request of clients, meals will now be available Mon- days, Wednesdays and Fridays. "Clients wished.to have more meals so we took a poll," said Mrs. Boyle. Extra,billing Huron County physicians will be asked to sign statements indicating their will- ingness to opt out of the Ontario Health in- surance Plan, (OHIP) should the Ontario government's proposal to ban extra -billing be passed through the legislature. The decision to canvass the county's 48 doctors individually was made at a January 23 meeting of the Huron County chapter of theOntario Medical Association (OMA) according to Dr. Ken ,'todney of Seaforth, spokesman for the local associa- tion. Hockey Crackdown Hockey fans attending games at the Lucknow arena may have noticed that more penalties involving the . stick. were called at the beginning of the yea-'. It's all part of an attempt to encourage players to keep their sticks on the ice and keep the wood out of the fracas they may get into. The crackdown on stick work includes infractions concerning high -sticking, cross checking, slashing and hooking. "The CAHA (Canadian Amateur Hockey Association) asked coaches what they'd like to. see improved in the game. They wanted to see more stick penalties called," said Dave Black, who referees at the arena. Montgomery Motors open new building February It''s been almost 40 years in the making bat Montgomery Motors opened a brand new building for the Ford car dealership and Montgomery buslines last Friday,. The front part of the building was filled with well wishers from the community who' had seen Gordon Montgomery later with the help of his sons build the little . garage into one of the largest businesses in. town. Montgomery's started ina garage built in 1912 by Garth Osterander. Next door to the garage stood a blacksmith's shop operated by Alec Crawford. Then Ed Renwick. bought the garage from Osterander and ran the shop before Montgomery bought i in 1948. "I'd never. been in a garage before I bought this one," said Montgomery laughing. His grand- father, nd- father, John Joynt, was reeve in 1909, 1910 and 1915. Wesley, his father, was also reeve, from 1943-47. In 1947, he was Warden of Bruce County. ' In the 1955 election, Joynt offered himself for the position of councillor com- ing in "third or fourth," he said.
