This has been the busiest and most ex-
citing week at LCPS this term. Christmas
is °a wonderful time of the year and the
students are anxiously awaiting the
Christmas holidays.
Carol Singing
Carol singing has created a tremendous
Christmas mood each day. On Monday, the
band, led by Mr. Cayley, had everyone
dancing to Rudolph the Red -Nosed
Reindeer and singing merrily to other
carols.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Black led the singing
while Mrs. Boak played the piano. During
the singing session, Frosty the Snowman
was chased by a policeman.
On Wednesday, Mrs. MacDonald accom-
panied Mrs. Maclntyre as she led the sing-
ing. The Grade 1 class entertained with a
short song and dance routine.
The students entered the gym to the °
sound of Mr. Pike's sweet voice as he sang
The First Noel and played the guitar on
Thursday. A very special mood was set as
Mr. Pike played his guitar for several
other carols. Amanda. Peck played the
piano as Luke Cranston did an excellent
job of playing the drums for "The Little
Drummer Boy".
Vitamins for Mr. Pike
To end the week on a spectacular note,
Mrs. Broad helped Santa give some
special people their "special" Chrsitmas
gifts. Mr. Pike, .who . had been ill with the
dreaded flu, received some "Flintstone
Vitamins" to make him feel better. Mr.
Cayley was excited to get a "baby band".:
to help him make a big band over the
holidays: Mrs. Ritchie kissed Santa when
he gave her a cushion; her "seat of
honor".
Slippers for Mrs. Maclntyre
Of course, Santa didn't forget Mrs.
Maclntyre who is run off her feet doing
things for the school. She got a new pair of
slippers. Mr. Schwartz got a pair of ear-
muffs so that he cannot hear the 'students
knocking on his door at noon -hour and so
his ears don't get cold when: he puts up the
flag in- the morning, -Mr.:: Burkhart; who
organizes and re -organizes the rooms in
the school, got a bottle of Mr, Clean. Santa
didn't. forget Mrs. Clooney who leaves on
her honeymoon to Jamaica on Saturday.
She hugged Santa when he presented her
with red sunglasses and an. "I Love You"
towl.
The students left the gym singing "We
Wish You a Merry Christmas". What a
way to end a delightful week of celebrating
Christmas!
Each class then went to the video areas
to watch movies . which they really
enjoyed.
Turkey dinner
The highlight of °the day was when the
• whole school sat down to a delicious turkey
dinner served in the gymnasium. Grade 6
sang "Grace" and the students were then
efficiently served by parent volunteers.
Thanks to Mrs. McEwan, Mrs. Broome,'
Mrs. Bellmore and Mrs. Van Meeteren for
their invaluable help. Also, a huge thank-
you to Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Gingrich for
organizing the whole meal and to the staff
for providing the yummy ice-cream
dessert.
The Grade 8 class created . a wonderful
atmosphere in decorating' the gym as a
"Christmassy dining -room'". t.Thank-you,
all!!!
