The morning Kindergarten class did an excellent job during the Christmas Assembly. We all enjoyed Alicia de oer's solo Away in the Manager. T. Is was an unexpected pleasure. oth morning and afternoon kindergarten students learned how to sew. They sewed Christmas bells to hang on the wall or Christmas tree. The afternoon Kindergarten class is very sorry to see Steven Spanswich leave their class, along with his sister Stephanie from Grade 2. We wish them the best of luck in their new school. Mystery visitor The Grade 1 class had a "mystery" visitor in, their classroom this week. On all tidy desks was a note and a sucker from one of Santa's elves. They made beautiful Christmas creations at their centres. The class read lots of books about Christmas and afterwards acted out mini -skits about the story they read. Grade 1 enjoyed the Christmas assembly on . Tuesday and Wednesday. Tom Symes is "Special Me" for this week. The Grade 1 class would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy Christmas. Surprise packages The Grade 2 class had a lot of fun with the performance at the Christmas assembly. A special thanks to all. the parents who helped'. with costumes and props. Also, a big thank -you to Mrs. Mali and Mrs. Farlane for their special assistance. The Grade 2 class really had to use their thinking skills to figure out what was inside their ' Christmas surprise packages. Ryan Hackett had a special visitor snooping around his house. From the tracks, he thinks it must haye been Mr. Rabbit. Geometry lesson Shapes, shapes and more shapes. The Grade 3 class has enjoyed a fun unit about geometry. T's week has been like a three ring cir- cus for Mrs. ={road and e Grade 4 class. For the last week the class had to do school work and'sgueeze in lots of practising for their presentation ' with the grade five class. The presentation was called the Twelve Days of Christmas. After doing it Wednesday night, they performed on Fri- day, December 12 at Pinecrest. The Lucknow School had another suc- cessful Christmas Concert from the junior half along with music from the senior students, There were five performances, the band and a number of piano solos. Choir visiting Pinecrest The primary choir is very excited about going to Pinecrest on Wednesday, December 17 to sing their Christmas songs to their friends at the nursing home. Gingerbread village The Grade 6 classhasbeen working very hard in Family Studies on their part of the school's gingerbread village. They are the first class to be finished. -Toy debate The Grade 7 class began a new unit titled Toys. The first ended in a debate about whether or not war -like toys should be sold. Both sides had some very good com- ments but in the end the team that was defending the title won. • The Grade 8 class has been conducting a survey about what people like best about Christmas. They are finding that the same delights are enjoyed by young and old. alike.. Even though they haven't finished collecting all of the data yet, with the infer - illation collected spending Christmas with their fa+; ilies was -high on the ranks in the books of school children along with senior citizens. The Lucknow Central Band has been busy for the last two weeks practising for the Christmas assembly which helped br- ing a big crowd last We. Hesday. The band will ' be playing at the Carolfest today. Despite the cold weather, the band had a good performance last Saturday at the Lucknow Santa Claus Parade. Thanks. Mr. Cayley for all the hard work and for inspir- ing the band to achieve great heights. Blyth Theatre trip M The Grades 1 to 4 students had a fun trip to Blyth Theatre on Friday, December 12. They enjoyed the play A Prairie Boy's Winter. Special thanksto chaperones Mrs. Moffat, Mrs. Park, Mrs. Haldenby, Mrs. Smith,Mrs. Michelle Johnston, Mrs. Betty Johnston and Mrs. Sellars for their assistance on the trip. Last Thursday Mr. Flannagan and his special education class travelled to the Outdoor Education Centre near Wiarton for an overnight excursion. The class was involved in many fun and educational ac- tivities. They learned how to make a nutri- tional breakfast, harness snowshoes and make Christmas wreathes from grape LCPS vines. The class also had some respon- sibilities like washing ,., I shes, setting the tables and keeping their sleeping quarters tidy. The class played lots of fun things e.g. Animal. Games. Just before Friday's bus departure they had a two hour hike. They roasted marshmallows and had grilled cheese sandwiches in a lake side cabin. They arrived back to school tired but happy. On Monday, December 15, a fun -filled carol sing was put on by the LCPS band. First, they played Hark the Herald Angels. Sing and Silent Night. The band then had all the students and the leachers along with two unsuspecting visitors, Mrs. Priestap and Heather Priestap, dancing to Rudolph the Red Nosed. Reindeer and White Christmas. It was, a great start to a' week filled with Christmas Spirit. Friends gather for house warming On Wednesday, December 3, 26 friends' and neighbours. from the Ashfield and Lanesville•community gathered for a sur- prise party at the newhome of Gordon and, Bernice Kemp and family, 10 kilometres south of Goderich« An address was read bringing them best wishes in their new home and to show ap- preciation for their 'contribution to the community. They were presented with a mirror, Mat- ching patching set of owl pictures and. Bernice was given a lovely wrist watch. During- the evening everyoneenjoyed plaf"ing cards, crokinole and visiting.
