Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 bookworm getting bigger

Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 is reading up a
storm. The bookworm is getting longer. It
has 140 circles!
They also have faces to tell how they feel
which hang on the wall. Each child has a
clothes pin with their name on it to hang up
on the ffaces. The faces are sad, worried,
happy, angry or uncertain, •
The class also did water paintings. They
put water on the paper, then paint. This
week the students will be starting their
"Christmas Centres" and they will be "in-
troducing" John S. Dalton. The Grade 3
reporters are David Adams and Grant
Cairncross.
• Regional enrichment
Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 6 class had two
students, Nathan Daer and Michael Cere,
visit Victoria Public School on November
27 and 28 and December 1, to participate in
the Regional Enrichment program on
Egyptians. Michael and Nathan presented
a report on their activities in their Book
Club meeting this week. The Grade 6

seniors' party

Cord art
On Thursday, December 14, r.ridget
Wolfe came to teach Grades 4-5 portable 2
some interesting artwork on cords. They
enjoyed working with her very much.
Christmas activities
Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3 Room 10 are .do-
ing some Christmas activities and centres.
They are enjoying math, color sheets,
crafts, Christmas shapes, Christmas
paiting, reading Christmas books, writing
Christmas stories and Christmas poems.
Reporters for the class are Debbie
Delbergue and Melissa Daer.
Mysteries of the deep
Miss Jewitt's Grade 2 class has been
very busy exploring the mysteries of the
briny deep. Through stories, poems, songs,
films and artwork sea creatures have in-
vaded the classroom.
After an exciting trip to Glen McNeil's
dairy farm_, the class made butter, butter-
milk, cheese curds and ice-cream. Yum!
Christmas alphabet
Mrs. Young's Grade 1-2 class made a
Christmas alphabet BIG BOOK. They are
reading many Christmas stories and have
also started their Christmas activities.
The class wishes Adam Sinclair well at
his new school.
Gifts presented
Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3 students reveal-
ed at a party on Wednesda'y, December 10
when recipe books written under the
leadership of volunteer Mrs. Webster were
presented as Christmas gifts to moms,
dads' or grandparents,
Some of the 'recipes had been made by
the class and were eaten at the party along
with wassail the children made from cider,
apple juice and spices. Visitors shared
Christmas memories and joined in
Christmas singing. The Grade 3 class sang
for their guests and Heather Robinson
played the violin,
Grandparent's day
on December 9, Mrs. Scott's Grade 4
class had a grandparent's day, They each
° brought a grandparent, their aunt or their
mother. They served many drinks and
treats.
The class would like to thank all the
grandparents, aunts and mothers who
came to the Grade 4 classroom.
Grade 4 has also been practicing hard
for the Christmas concert.
Ornaments •
On December 12, Grade 8 students
helped Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 class make
Christmas ornaments from pyramids .and
cubes. Grade 8 students are -taking part in
the concert, doing a play with Grade 7. The
Grade 8 reporters are Karen. Bakker and
Jocelyn Asnong.
Kindergarten 2 was a busy place on Fri-
day morning as Mrs. Sygrove showed the
children how to make houses using mer-
ingue " icing to hold walls together and.
decorating with colorful candies.
Volunteers helping with this enterprise
were Mrs. Brenda Wylds, Mrs. Joan
Black; Mrs. Janet Brooks, Mrs. June
Meader and Mrs. Marie Wilkins.
Mrs. Dee Graham, art co-ordinator, was
also on hand to help. Later, she helped the
class make macaroni wreaths.
The Lucknow Junior- women's Institute
hosted their annual Senior Citizens'
Christmas party on December 1 • in the
Anglican Parish Hall.
Approximately 55 guests enjoyed a pro-
gram of music, readings, a play and trivia
questions. Some children of the members
formed a choir as well as played the piano
and tap-danced. -
The draw was held and the winners were
-as follows: First prize of a large quilt was
won by Suzanne Kirkland of Lucknow; se-
cond prize of a hand -painted china plate
made and donated by Eunice Cunningham
was won by Debbie Hodgins of RR 4 Kin-
cardine. The third prize baby quilt was
won by Kim Dent of Tiverton: The Junior
Institute would like to thank everyone who
supported their draw by buying tickets. A
special thanks to the Sewing Box for
displaying the prizes and selling tickets.
On Friday, December 12, the Junior In-
stitute will be catering a smorgasbord sup-
per . for the Brindley Christmas Party.
Anne Inglis and Elizabeth Irvin will plan
the meal and divide the responsibilities.
Mary Nelson reported that the Health
Unit office is planning to co-ordinate the
efforts of the local service, clubs to provide
and Christmas dinner and gifts for needy
families in the Lucknow area, Laura Hare,
Mary Nelson and Elizabeth Irvin will at-•
tend the meeting on December 8 to find out
details. If members decide not to par-
ticipate, then they will shop for Christmas
baskets on December 13,
Members then exchanged names for this
year's Secret Pal exchange. A reminder
was issued for the upcoming Christmas
bazaar December 6.

Keith Raymond flew to British Columbia
recently to attend the wedding of Dale A.
Gammie and Debra Margaret Grist. Dale
is the son of Ross and Grace Gammie and
is the daughter

Barry Grist of Burnaby, British Columbia.
The wedding took place in the United
Church, Burnaby on Saturday, December
6. The newlyweds honeymooned in Mexico
and will reside in Dawson City.
