Lancers tie Ripley 6-6
in Interrnediate action.
The Ripley Arenas was the scene for
some old-time hockey Friday night when
the t ipley Roosters and Lucknow Lancers
battled to a 6-6 draw.
Lancers 6 Ripley 6
Both teams were skating well while both
David Gibson and Mike Whitcroft will
agree there were some hard hits.
The Lancers jumped out to an early lead
when Jim Murray slid one past the Ripley
goalie. Carl Stanley tied the score mid -way
through, the second. Steve MacPherson
gave the Lancers the lead again and Art
Clark made it a two -goal lead at the half-
way point. The Roosters then scored three
straight to take a one -goal lead into the
third period. Dan Wilken, Kevin Boyle and
Mark Stanley got the Rooster goals.
The Roosters were not done scoring yet
though, as they increased their lead to
three goals when Brent Armstrong and
Kevin Stewart found the mark.
The Lancers closed the gap half -way
through the third when Steve Simpson con-
n
nected on a powerplay goal and, half a
minute later, Grant Gilchrist put one in
and the Lancers trailed by one. The tying
goal came in the last minute with the
Lancers using an extra forward in favor of
a goalie and who else but Steve macPher-
son was there to tap in the goal.
Mystery man
This week's mystery man is newcomer
Mike Whitcroft. Mike was picked up as a
free agent from the Butchers for an un-
disclosed amount of money and so far has
handled himself pretty well in the big
leagues. His pack control and passing pro-
wess keeps the opposition off guard while
his teammates get into the open. And,
when asked what he had in store after his.
hockey career was over, Mike says he
would like to team up with Hulk Hogan and
do some tag -team wrestling.
The Lancers travel to Mildmay on Fri-
day and host Kincardine next Sunday at
7:30 p.m.

For Who you are asking? Let's just say

as they were when the first period started,
That is not to say the boys gave up,
frustrated maybe, but they were not sore
losers.
Durham is a very strong team and the
boys' respected that. The stop at
McDonalds in Hanover made the boys
forget about the .:garne. Thanks goes to
