Trinity UCW elects new offlcers
The Trinity UCW annual pot luck supper
was held in the church basement with 39
members present. Rev. Robert Roberts
led in Grace and everyone er4oyed e
bountiful smorgasbord dinner.
The Programme Committee was in
charge of the devotions. A hymn was sung
and Mrs. John Hunter read the scripture
lesson from Numbers. Mrs, Jim Hunter
gave the devotions and. Mrs. Cliff
Kilpatrick. A skit was put on by Mrs.
Chester Hackett, Mrs. Ken Alton, Mrs.
Warren Zinn, Mrs. Blake Alton and Mrs.
Harvey Ritchie.
Mrs. Murray Irvin gave the report of the
nominating committee followed by Rev.
Roberts conducting the installation of the
•
officers. The gift exchange brought the en-
joyable evening to a close.
The officers for 1987 are as follows: Past
president - Mrs. D.A. Hackett; President
Mrs. Blake Alton; First Vice-president -
Mrs. Murray Irvin; Second vice-president
Mrs. Chester Hackett; Secretary - Mrs,
Lorne Hackett; Treasurer - Mrs, Warren

Flower Show awards
given at annual meetin
The annual meeting and banquet of the
Lucknow and District Horticultural Socie-
ty was held on November 21 in the Legion
Hall with 151 in attendance, The banquet
was catered by the Trinity IJCW.
Everyone was welcomed by President
Robin Logan. The treasurer's and
secretary's reports were read. Allene
'Bradley brought in the slate •of 'new of-
ficers for 1987 and Mrs. Clarence Lang of
Chesley, Director, of District 8, installed
the officers.
The awards for the August Flower SliOw
were awarded. Anna Mae Hunter received
the Red Rose Tea Trophy for the beSt Red
Rose, and Anna Mae McDougall won the
Beatty Ladder Trophy for most exhibits.
Mrs. Logan favored the members With
two harmonic renditions and a group made
up. of Jean Conley, Donalda Moffat, Ira
Dickie ' and Harold Campbell played
several musical numberS. Both were very
much appreciated,
The speaker for the evening was Mrs.
Colleen Richards, the past -president of the
Ontario Horticultural Association. She
spoke on her own experiences in hor-
ticultural work and where the members
could get many booklets and leaflets for
help in their work
Mrs, Logan showed slides on
Wildflowers on the Bruce Trail taken by
Mr, Don Geary of London, who was ill and
could not attend the meeting.
The eyeing closed with the singing of The
Queen.

received from a family in Roehester, New York in reply to a balloon message released by
the students in October, The $5 cheque will go to the Christian Blind Mission established in
