50 Kilometre Club. The results are not
tabulated as yet.
Monster Gallery
Mr. Culp's Grade 5 would like to thank
parent volunteers Joan ,:'lack • and Michelle
rin.' ley for their help at the pumpkin car-
ving table. Other centres enjoyed by the
students were the monster gallery, creepy
monster race, finger puppets and a listen-
ing centre.
Mrs. Mather's Grade 1 has certainly had
a great week finishing up their Hallowe'en
centres by having a Hallowe'en party and
doing other monster related things. Now
they are ready to learn about community
helpers and the great job they do.
Sentences
Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 are delighted that
the monsters cleaned up after themselves
almost that is! They're spending t � s week
concentrating on sentences. They're hop-
ing to become experts at knowing when
and where to put capitals and periods.
They're also greatly enjoying a book call-
ed Twenty-one Balloons by William
PeneduBois. It's taking them on journey to
the amazing island of "Krakatoa". This
cycle they are introducing Sara Cameron.
VIP visits
On Monday, October 27, Mrs. Diane
Park visited both Grade 6 classrooms as a
guest for the VIP program. Mrs. Park
spoke to the students and showed them
0 kilometre Club
samples of non-prescription drugs, Thanks
again, Mrs. Park!
Industrial arts
Mr. Bazzlett's Grade 0 class goes to
Goderich's Victoria Public School for
Family Studies and Industrial Arts every
Tuesday afternoon. Mr. eid, the teacher
for Industrial Arts, says that the 15
students are doing "awesome" in his.
class. Mrs. Bruinsma, the teacher for
Family Studies, thinks that the 16 students
are doing well too.
Mrs. Allen's Grade 7 class will also go to
Goderich on Wednesdays.
Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5 Portable 1 had a
special Hallowe'en lunch on • Hallowe'en
day. The enjoyed Scarios, celery, carrots,
pop and dessert. Special thanks to the

Senior Citizen Gift

Monster Daze Workshops
The rookside halls in the primary wing
are now filled with the products of the two
"Monster Daze" theme mornings. Each
group of 12 students (Grades K-3) had the
opportunity to visit four workshops during
the two mornings. The folowing sessions
were presented:
Monster Music
This workshop was organized by Mrs.
Jewitt and -Mrs. Ottewell. The children
learned a Monster Boogie Woogie song,
and then made a spooky Hallowe'en sound
tape, using rhythm instruments and a
chant.
Box Puppets
In this workshop, organized by Mrs.
Blanchette, the children made weird
creatures from boxes and other materials.
Play Dough Monsters
Mrs. Cameron helped the children mold
monsters' from colored play dough.. They
also colored and cut out paper monsters
and clothes for them.
Story Time
In the library, Mrs. Blake and Mr.
Tremeer read stories to the students, in-
cluding the Riddle Monster. The students
also made up "knock -knock" jokes about
monsters. They also heard the story about
the Wild Things which they also listened to
on tape. They created some mixed up
monsters on paper after the story.
Paper Bag Puppets
With the help of Mrs. Graham, the
groups created super monster out of lunch -
sized paper bags. the mouths opened when
the students' hands were inside.
Monster Anagrams
The children brainstormed monster
words for letters of the alphabet and then
used these words for each letter of their
own name to make monster armsAnd
mini -monsters. Mrs. Young organized this
workshop.
Monster Math
The students in Miss Mathers group
brainstormed monster words and made a
graph using these words. We also made a
poem patterning "One, two, buckle my
shoe".
Monster Big Books
Miss Jewitt's group mode one big book
entitled Monster Monster What Do You
See? As well, some groups illustrated a
pop-up book about The . Sounds of
Hallowe'en.
Monster Booklets
With the help of Mrs. Sygrove, the
children 'shared the story The Hungry
Thing. They; brainstormed where they
might find monsters and what monsters
might like to eat.
They also illustrated individual booklets
called In Dark, Dark Wood...Can you
guess what they found? A Monster!
Monster Riddles
In the library,, Mrs. Blake read the story
The Riddle Monster to the students. They
made up riddles and "knock -knock" jokes
about monsters.
Monster. Cookies
Delicious smells drifted from the kitchen
as the children made gingerbread cookie
dough then used tin cans to cut monster
heads with the help of Mrs. Webster and
Mrs.. Bakker. Many fabulous creations ap-
peared as the c hildren decorated the
cookies with raisins,, pretzels and. Chinese
noodles. After the cookies were' baked,
they were distributed to all the staff and
children.
Monster Paces
Mrs. Heslinga's group listened to a story
from a pop-up goblin book. The children
then made their own Goblin faces with in-
terchangeable eyes and mouths. In-
teresting coloring completed the faoes.
Monster. Drama
The children in Mrs. Moffat's group
listened to tapes of "monsterious" sounds
and then interpreted and acted .out what
they thought they heard.
Monster Menus,
In Mrs. McDowell's group, the children
brainstormed about the foods they eat
each day, They talked about Canada's four
