system to decrease their mountin deficit.
"They're trying to clean up their deficit.
They've picked on some ofthe post
masters and the inside postal workers, and
now they're picking on the rural couriers.
"We have no union, no spokesman, no
benefits, • we . can't get on unemployment
and a, lot are getting older and can't get ,
another job," said Mr. Kleist, whose fami-
ly has held the two mail routes for three
generations.
Mr, Kleist says all the rural couriers
want is a chance to air their grievances
with Canada Post. However, he and other
rural couriers are willing to meet with
them as an executive.
"All we want is some answers from
Canada Post. We want to know who is
responsible for this change. But all we're
getting is the run-around. We really don't
know who we're fighting with," said: Mr.
Kleist,
In addition to the executive meeting with
Canada Post; a petition was signed by the
rural couriers at the meeting which will be
forwarded to the local MPs. The rural
couriers' executive also urged the
members to write letters to the. Federal.
