Brookside students tour Children's

Last Friday, Mrs. Allen's Grade 7 class
visited the Children's Museum in London.
The class was involved in two: workshops
computers and the solar system.
The "real" treat for the students was go,
ing to McDonald's for lunch.
Welding shop trip
Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 6 went on a short
field trip to George $myth's Welding Shop
on October N. They . weiit to see levers,
pulleys and machines at work. Mr; and
Mrs. Smyth were kind enough to show us
around and they gave us key chains.
Mrs. Bev Weaver was a great reader in
grade 3 last week and she read Aladdin
and the Magic Lamp, Her magic lamp con-
tained Hallowe'en candy kisses for the,
children!
The children also submitted some ex-
cellent leaf collections that were displayed
in various ways from a tree branch in a
cup to a piece of a tree trunk.
"Boo-tiful work"
Miss Mather's Grade 1 are working
"boo-tifully" at several Hallowe'en Cen-
tres. In math, they havezegun to learn
about joining sets of numbers, So far, they
know the addition number stories for 1, 2
and 3:
Mrs, Cameron's Kindergarten 1 has
made. Hallowe'en and cat masks this week.
"Our room is decorated for Hallowe'en
and looks very scary", she says,
"Pay Day
Mrs. Scott's Grade 4 experienced their
second "Pay Day" on Tuedsay, October
2L Each student received a pay cheque
and deposited their money in the
classroom. bank. They wrote cheques to
pay their bills (rent for their desks, taxes
to Mr; Tremeer, transportation costs for
busing, etc.) Their challenge is to balance
the bank books 'and not end up "in the
red", Thanks to Ruth MacKenzie, Jan
Logtenberg and Marie Webster for their
work as "tellers" for the morning!
Humungous monsters
Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 created five
hurnungous paper mache monsters which
are painted icky green. They have also
begun monster centres including a number
monster to be added up for a spooky prize!

This week they are introducing Grant
Cairncross (whois not a monster! ).,
Colors
Mrs. Blanchette's Kindergarten 2 con-
tinues to work with color concepts. They
discovered through the mixing of finger
paints, new colors can be created. While
discussing green they read a book about.
