After dinner the group spent the evening at the Hedley home in Walkerton.. We extend empathy to the relatives of the late Mrs. Harvey (Pearl Haldenby) Anderson who passed away on Sunday at London following a severe seizure on Fri- day. Pearl grew up in our area, the daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. Fred Haldenby. Mr. and Mrs: William Haldenby and Ar- thur Haldenby received word of the death in London of their nephew, Elmer Kolpin's wife Nora,, who passed away after a lengthy illness. She and her son Calvin returned home to St. Clair Shores, Michigan on Monday. Neighbours and friends of Miss. Edna Boyle enjoyed 'Open House' planned by her sister May on Tuesday afternoon and. evening and Thursday afternoon and even- ing, on the occasion of her 85th birthday. The theme was Thanksgiving, and the Holy Table was laden with fruit, vegetables and flowers. Mrs. William MacPherson was organist. Sunday. 4-11 club meets recently • By Karen Miller Dung the second meeting of, the Eti- quette for the 80s 4-H club, the members talked about'the upcoming banquet in Kin- cardine oil November 24 at i6:30 p.m. The group chatted about such etiquette matters as what' tosay on the telephone and, guidelines for getting along with your family, Also included was a discussion about parties and invitations. It was also announced assistant leader Donna Johnston would be attending a special 4-H camp at Centralia during the summer. Family meals was the next subject of discussion for the group. They talked about how the table should be set at a for- mal family meal. The members even prac- tised setting a table the formal way. Finally, the members split into two groups, went into two separate rooms and worked on a word scramble organized by' Donna Johnston. Before . the meeting adjourned, the members all repeated the 4-H motto: "Learn to do by doing". Society ho!ds euchre tourney There were 13 tables in play at the Dungannon Agricultural Society's first Euchre Tournament of the season on Saturday, October 11. Leroy Draper and Brain Draper won the $50 first prize with a score of 82 in ten games. Second prize went to Millie Johnston and Ila Pollock who won $40 with their 79 points. Jane Glousher and, Nadine Scott placed third with a score of 77. They won $30. A special contest was won by Barb Pollock. A speciaimention of thosepeple who at- tended the tournament while visiting in our area - Martha Hazlett,, Burlington en- joyed the euchre games with her cousin, Sandra Rivett While Ron and Pam Poulin from Welland attended with her father Tom Tobey. Everyone enjoyed a plentiful lunch and were invited to attend: all of the up -coming events that the Dungannon Agricultural Society will be sponsoring this fall, in- cluding the next euchre tournament on Saturday, November 8. Future . tour- naments will be held on the second Satur- day of each month until April.
