Grade 1 using computers
By Cailin Clarke
Again this week Lucknow Central had a
very busy week.
Mrs. Lash's kindergarten students have
been learning about Thanksgiving. They
have been talking.- about Thanksgiving and
all the things they have to be thankful for.
Withtheir magic hands they ' made
Thanksgiving turkeys. Also this week, the
two kindergarten classes made a book
called "I liked Red Riding Hood" after
they saw the film about Red Riding Hood.
In Mrs. Bell's Grade 1 class, they have
also been learning about Thanksgiving.
They have started on their "turkey"- books
and are making pictures of what they are
thankful for. Working on the computers
has been another high point of the Grade
one's week. Each group has had turns on
the computers. Last week, the Grade one's
made a book all about "Kasen". They are
getting to be good readers. Sharon de Boer
is "Special Me" this week.
Crab Soccer
Mrs. Black's Grade.2 class played their
first game of "crab soccer" this week.
They also have been working on the com-
puters which are lots of fun. Some of the
students are practising a play called
"Thanksgiving in the Woods'which they
will put on for the Kindergarten class. The
Grade 2 class would like to thank Bain's
for getting them an eggplant for their
vegetable unit. They had never seen one
before.
Mrs. Campbell's , Grade 3 class has
started primary house leagues. They got
off to an exciting start on, Monday as they
played two games of `, `crab soccer" in the
gymnasium. The students are very excited
about their new readers called "Saturday
Magic". The pictures and stories are fan-
tastic! This week the students have been
waiting patiently for their big Thanksgiv-
ing feast on October 10. Each student has
brought in fruit, vegetables and goodies
for the feast.
Mrs. Broad's Grade 4 class has been
working hard to perfect a play entitled
"Arthur's Thanksgiving" for the presenta-
tion last Friday, October 10. They have
also been enjoying Thanksgiving reading
and writing. Thanks to .Mrs. Austin, one of
the volunteers, for helping out.
In. Art class, Grade 4 has had an in-
teresting week. They have been busy
preparing " vegetable creations",
Mr. Flanagan's, special education
students have just completed colorful pend

In and around the Lucknow area, you
might have noticed several white -bag
Salespeople trooping around town. No,
they aren't Martians coining to get you.
It's just us : the LCPS students: The
students are selling Pomanders - a
porcelain air freshener: They make fan-

go towards school uniforms and computer
