Noon
luncheon

Mrs. Peter Cook played the piano as 42
ladies of the three afternoon units
gathered in the fellowship room of the
church on Tuesday, October 7.
A noon luneheon was served by the com-
mittee followed by the Thanksgiving pro-
gram. The new minister at the church
Rev. McFarlane and his wife were in-
troduced by the ladies by Mrs. Walden.
Mrs. Walden presided and following the
call to worship, all sang a hymn with Mrs.
Edith Webster as the pianist. The. scrip-
ture was read by Mrs. Mag'belle Peddle
and the mediatation on Gratitude was
given by Mrs, Grace Campbell, Mrs.
Grace Gibson gave the prayer followed by
a hymn.
Mrs. Walden introduced the guest
speaker, Margaret Ferguson who is the.co-
ordinator of area 4 of the Bruce
Presbyterial. She explained her duties and
gave an excellent explanation of who
forms the presbyterial and also
presbytery, their duties and the difference
between these two organizations in the
church. The UCW will officially celebrate
its 25th anniversary on January 11, 1987
with the National UCW being celebrated in
Waterloo on July 11 -18.
Mrs. Eldon Bradley thanked the speaker
and the committee for their luncheon and
enjoyed by UCW rcecntly
progrram.
Mrs. Harvey Webster played a lovely
piano instrumental followed by a reading
by Mrs. Wesley ".itchie.
Some of the la 't i es who had been on the
bus trip to. Cape Croker gave some in-
teresting highlights. All sang a hymn and
Mrs. Walden closed this part of the
meeting with prayer.
The units separated for their individual
business meetings.

Following a lovely luncheon with the
member of Units 1, 2 and .3 of the Lucknow
United Church, all enjoyed an interesting
program chaired by Mrs. Glen Walden
held in the church basement on Tuesday,
October 7.
Unit 1 then met in the church parlour
with Mrs. Grace Gibson as the leader. She
welcomed the 12 members and two
visitors.
Mrs. Gibson read a poem followed by the
roll call which was answered with a verse
on "giving, thanks". The minutes of the
last meeting were read and approved the
the treasurer's report was given.
The birthday jar received donations for
Mrs. Lawrence McLeod and all sang Hap-
py Birthday, to her.
Offers of help and food were received by
Mrs. Gordon Morrison for the fowl supper.
The unit were adirised that anyone
wishing a church calender for 1907 please
inform Mrs. Gibson.
Mrs. Gordon Johnstone will take orders
for the Upper Room.
The Novemeber meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. Stuart eavie.
Unit 2 business
Mrs. ,;radley presided for the business
and Mary :lack acted as secretary. The
minutes were read and approved. Fifteen
members answered the roll call - a Bible
Verse with the word "bless". Mrs. Hackett
gave the treasurer's report and two Oc-
tober birthdays added to the funds.
A letter of resignation was read from
Mrs. Hunter as our leader. Mrs. Russell
Button offered to fill in for the rest of the
year. Several notes of thanks were read
and two of the members had birthdays
over 90 including Miss Lorna Campbell of
Bruce Lea Haven in Walkerton and Mrs.
Neil MacKenzie of Princess Court,
Kincardine.
Mrs. Mary McGillivray asked for help
and donations of food for the church turkey
supper on October 21 and also the lunch
following the evening anniversary on Oc-
tober 19:
Mrs. Helen Thompson read an in-
teresting article on the late Rev. Oswald
Smith from the Peoples Church. Following
the announcements, the meeting was
adjourned.
30 Unit 4

Unit 4 of the Lucknow United Church
Women met for their monthly meeting on
Tuesday, October 7 with an attendance of
23 members and three visitors. The roll
call was answered with an item from the
Observer.
Mrs. :;ob Campbell chaired the meeting,
opening with a prayer on missions. The
scripture was read by Mrs. Bob Finlay. A
pleasing piano soslo was given by Bonnie
Henderson.
Continuing in the study of our native In-
dians, Mrs. A.J. Wilson read a paper on
Bringing Spirituality beyond our Prison
Walls. Mrs. Dan Logan gave a history of
Indians in our part of Ontario and Mrs.
Campbell told the story of two enterprising
young Indians, a young man who had
started a shredder business and a young
lady who operated a business in deep -
cleaning of ceiling tiles. In less than two
years, both young people were operating
their own financially successful
businesses.
Mrs. Campbell gave the offertory prayer
and closed the program with a reading on
Thanksgiving,
